@clarebear I don't see any reason to think Suns has DP at all. In fact I doubt it, based on how light his belly is

@Herzeloyde you are absolutely correct, he's het DP.
This liver filly from a mare without DP means he must have at least one copy

I’m thinking, since mine is papered red like her dam, and I do allow 2G red in my lines, I might unspay mine and use her anyway. I can breed the quality up. I think. :p Might be a fun challenge anyway.

It's entirely different. It's a different locus, and it acts differently. It turns black pigment to brown, so it only does anything on Ee or EE horses, ie horses with black pigment. It has absolutely no effect on chestnuts or red based horses of any kind.

My little chocolate family - I am really liking this gene! Will be fun to work it into my liver lines. I think it might be fun on dun (lol) too!
