Green Eyes?
-
I just had a filly born with green eyes from a brown eyed stallion and a tan eyed female. It’s not very imprortant, but I was wondering if they will stay green and if it’s possible to breed for green eyed horses. Thanks!

If you link us to the horses in question, we can give you a much more informed answer.
But yes they probably will, and... maybe? The image generated got an eye update recently and I don't think anyone's experimented with it that much since then. Also it would depend on what color horse you're talking and whether they have the Tiger Eye gene, so again, links!Spiderweb Stables

How do I do that?
-
She’s an Amber Champagne Dun. I don’t own any special genes.
-
The Tiger Eye gene is free and can appear on create horses, so you wouldn't have to buy it or anything.
In this case, I think the filly's eyes are caused by champagne + dun. Champagne can cause amber eyes, like you see in her dam, Saphire. Champagne + another dilute can cause green.

Hey look, her dam is one of mine! Yeah champagne tends to make eyes from orange to pale blue. Generally the more dilutes you add, the lighter they get. Like this one, who's got cream and pearl in addition to champagne:

This one has no other dilutes, and is pretty dark with those orange eyes

I've never really looked but it does seem like dun makes their eyes more green

This isn't the reason for the original first post horse's green eyes, but i also found out that hom tiger eye + mushroom makes eyes green as well!
