Will these make good show horses?
-
I'm going through a bunch of my 2 year old spayed mares & geldings and culling poorly showing horses.
I have a few like the following three:
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3609900
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3609904
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3580604
They're in negative for profit. When I look at their records, there are some good results in there, and of course some not so good ones. Is it too early to cull them at 2 years old for such performance? How do you really know if you have a good, future show horse, one that will create profit?? -
At about 6-8 yo they should hit their stride and be very good assets to your barn :)

Do I continue showing them all the way through to 6-8yo? Even though they're loosing money for me? lol
-
i would as they are still collecting points all be it slowly. Which go towards your showing bonus
-
Yeah you should not loose hbs in the long run. Look at it as you are spending x amount to gain x hbs each week.
