Help With Showing?
  • So I'v been playing this game for awhile, but haven't looked into any of the details or really done anything much with the horses i'v been breeding.

I have always entered my horses in shows, but I'v never really thought about how I was entering them in shows or how they did. When I checked my show results, my horses were VERY low in the totem pole, ranking7 out of 8, 11 out of 12, etc.

So my question is, how do you tell if a horse is good at showing or not? Does gelding or spaying help them become better showers? Can you enter them in different shows if they aren't doing good?

They are making negitive profit, and im losing money. Help anyone?
  • Have these horses leveled off? If so, they probably will not advance much in their placings, though they will still add tiny fractions of a point to their show scores with training. If this is the case, then keep them for breeding stock if they aren't neutered. They may still gain half a point or so when you show them. Even if they're neutered, check to see how many points they have accumulated. If it is a considerable amount, stash them in a non-showing barn because they are still adding to your weekly showing bonus.

How many points your horses have accumulated is more important to your stable income than their profit balance.

  • Hi Bailee,

I took a peek at your barns - your horses have nearly 450 points in total, which will result in a payout of an extra 225 hb per week. As you show them more, their point totals will increase, and you will earn a bigger Showing Bonus each week. If your horses are losing you less than your show bonus, you really aren't losing money on showing them (even if your page says you have a negative net profit). My net profit this week is in the negative thousands, but that's ok because even the horses coming in second to last are earning points with every time they show, even if they're not actually earning any real money.

You can look at a horse's show scores to see how well they're currently doing at showing. For example, your horse Chocolate Chipz scored the exact same number of points twice this week (155), but that put her in 5th place once and 10th place the other time. It just depends what other horses are entered in the same show.

You can anticipate what scores a horse will have from week to week. If they're consistent, they will have the same score both times they are shown in a given week. With a PT of 9.9, their show score will increase by about 3 every week - which means if they score 155 this week, they'll score 158 next week, and so on, until they level off and no longer train at their previous rate. A higher PT score means they'll earn a bigger increase in their show score every week.

Spaying or gelding early in a horse's career gives them a tiny training boost each week - but once a horse has leveled off, their score will pretty much stay at the same place for the rest of their lives (it increases very very slowly after that).

Please let us know if you still have any questions!

  • So, the points a horse earns never go away? As long as I have the horse, the point will always add up towards my bonus? they don't reset?
  • Nope! they never reset! Now if you sell the horse the points will transfer to the new owners barn. But as long as 1. you own the horse and 2. the horse is alive the points will count to your bonus :D
