Need Help With Names
-
Hello everyone, I am very not-creative and need some help coming up with some names for future HuggAMug foals. All horses that pass my criteria for quality breeding stock in my Splash M line are named after coffees, I know there are probably thousands and thousands of names involving coffee but I need some help!
Please leave a name below involving coffee (or hot teas)!
Here is a list of one's I have already named, for reference of what I'm looking for

Thank everyone! -
Love coffee, just don't know anything about it, as I just drink whichever brand is cheap, and I don't do anything to it, but my personal favorite of hot teas is darjeeling...
(ETA - if my horses have names on any given account, it's almost always because I picked a topic at random, like Celtic mythological figures, and then wikipedia'd my way from there, as one does when going into an internet rabbit hole, so I 100% am with you on "not creative, but lemme pick a theme." When I first started, one of my themes was "prepositions" and... well, there just aren't nearly enough of those in English for the number of horses one ends up having!)Post edited by darkpixe at 2020-04-13 19:05:36ID 253156 | Breeding for black-based greys with satinThanked by 1kgstable -
@darkpixe I've never heard of that, it will go on my list of names. I love how unique it is! What kind of tea is it? My personal favorite is Roobois (I think that's how you spell it haha) My family gets it directly from South Africa since that's where my grandparents and mom are from

I'm surprised you don't have a Cappuchino in there somewhere. Definitely get creative with your flavors to mix things up Hazelnut Almond, Cinnamon etc
Cinnamon Mocha
Hazelnut Cappuchinco
I would also definitely incorporate Chai.
Spiced Vanilla Chai
Dirty Chai
And for a lighter colored foal
Cafe Blanco
Are hot ciders allowed?
Carmel Apple Cider
Mulled Cider
Spiced Carmel Apple
Also just using Espresso would be fun
Two Shots Espresso
Red Eye
Cafe Americano
(I used to barista in college, we loved coming up with new drinks!)Post edited by LadyhawkeStables at 2020-04-13 19:47:53 -
@LadyhawkeStables That helps so much, I added a bunch of names to my list. I definitely think Ciders fall under the HuggAMug category. I added just plain "Spiced Cider" to the list as well as just 'Espresso Shot'.

Darjeeling is a particular district in India, and Darjeeling tea is specifically tea grown there (the way technically for sparkling wine to be "champagne" it's supposed to come from that region).
I've probably had as much fake Darjeeling as real, and I'm not enough of an expert to be able to tell the difference, but I briefly taught English as a Second Language, and one of my students was from India & brought me a tin of legit stuff as a farewell present after our semester ended, so that may be why it's my favorite. :)ID 252592 | Breeding chaos -
Buddy. Buddy. if you want teas I can do ya some teas. Also the cider thing got me thinking of mulled wine, which is kind of an offshoot of cider
But teas. Here's a sampler:
Lapsang Souchong - smoked tea from China, smells like getting whacked in the nose with a barbeque pit, tests like sitting around a bonfire in the fall with your best friends
Hojicha - toasted Japanese tea, really interesting flavor
Mate, or Yerba Mate - highly caffeinated South American drink. Like Rooibos this isn't 'actually' a tea, but whatever. Huge cultural thing in South America
Matcha - finely ground green tea whisked into into hot water rather than steeped.
Earl Grey - Black tea with bergamot (a citrus) infused into it. Originally created for the Lady Grey (Earl Grey's wife) because the water on their estate or whatever was so minerally or something they needed something a little different to really taste good
Tangerine Tuxedo - Black tea packed into a tangerine peel and then the two are dried together. The tea gets a tangerine flavor, apparently, and also you can crumble the peel right in with the tea when you brew it. I haven't tried this one yet, but I will once my package comes!
Honeybush - another name for RooibosSpiderweb Stables
ID Number: 238452
He/Him pronouns -
I do the theme thing too, btw, usually either by line or by RS Herd Helpers.
My Freaky Fridays are all spoopy/horror type names, and I pick a different theme each Friday the Thirteenth. I have villains from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (my first FFs), vampires from movies and literature, actresses from the very earliest horror films, and, most recently, Lovecraftian monsters.
Most of my Bronze Ages are bronze age cultures or cities (real creative, I know).
My Baroques' names come from pearl terminology.
My AOLMP and the subsequent line are mountains, real and fictional, mountaneers, mountaineering terms, etc.
My mushroom line are (surprise!) mushroom genus or species names, or other related terms.
My watercolor onyxes get a lot of famous painters or art terms.
A lot of my livers get villain names, like from Disney and comic books.

He/Him pronouns -
Dalgona (the new insta-friendly trend coffee)
Arabica and Robusta, the two most popular coffee plants
Bialetti, the famous Italian manufacter of eveerything coffee, inkluding the famlous moka pot
Crema - the layer of foam that is the sign of a true, well made espresso
In Portuguese, you have a lot of coffe related words:
Bica, the name of the portuguese espresso. According to the legend, it may or may not be short for "Beba Isso Com
Açúcar", (drink this with sugar). It is also what you get if you order just a café in Portugal.
Cheio: double espresso
Curto: espresso made with less water (= stronger)
Pingado: espresso with a little milk
Garoto: epsresso with a lot of milk
Mazagran: iced coffee
Galao: half espresso, half milk
Cheirinho: spiked coffee, usually with brandy or madeira
Abatanado: americano (a large cup of black coffee, milder than the espresso)

@Taliesin Omg so many good name ideas! I have this thread saved so I can come back whenever I need names :))
@Herzeloyde I love the thought of doing other languages too, thank you for the idea!
@annismyrph my Splash M (HuggAMug) line and my watercolor are the only lines I keep theme names with, my watercolor names are all Tagalog (Philipino) color names because my boyfriend is from there and gave me the idea, and then of course my Splash M line is coffees/teas/ciders because my foundation stud was named White Mocha. Sometimes I combine parents names (like for my Wrong Warp Twisted Hearts line) but it doesn't necessarily have to be a theme
