Genetic Interference?
  • I'm 'new' to the game, having not played since 2011 and am setting up my stables ready for breeding.

I was doing gene research to GMT my foundation stud, I have put all the planned genes on him but he's far too pale!

From my research, the Classic Champagne is still very much a medium/dark diluted black colour, and the Classic Cream is also still a dilute - but this guy is beige.

I'm definitely not happy with him, so thinking of adding Ssty or removing the Champagne to make him 'black' again. Any help would be appreciated.

  • I think it's possibly for the silver and the roan would be lightening him up too
  • Can confirm. If you search silver classic champagne vs just classic champagne there is a significant difference

  • I think I added the silver after the Cream/Champagne, and he was already pale at that point, but a quick search of Silver Cream Classic Champagne, yes he's the right colour. Odd, wondering which gene it was that made him turn so I can go back and fix it, or if adding the Sooty would darken him back up to a grey.

Conscious I need to fix it on him or he'll just make little dough coloured babies and that's not what I want! :)

  • I would start by removing the Silver. Since the cream is only one copy, it doesn't have much effect on a plain black base. The silver is causing most of the dilution i believe.

  • Half of my mares have the Silver gene, I've gone ahead and removed the Champagne dilute from Lucifer as that was interfering with the more desired silver and he's now at least grey. :)
