I have a new filly that looks like she has a Gulastra Plume: http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3998239.

However, she is in a pasture where I am breeding for quality alone (not any rare genes), so as far as I know, none of her ancestors have gulastra plume. The Gulastra Plume Breeders Club doesn't want her, so I doubt she has it. I got her color tested, but I don't know what to look for in the results. What would the results for a horse with Gulastra Plume look like; in other words, what specifically would I look for?

Nope. That tail is just a splash tail, from her mother. GP can look just like a splash tail, but it only is visable on A? horses that have it two genes of it. In the game, buckskins who have only one gene of it can show it by having a lighter colored mane and tail. It also depends on the white factor of the horse, the bigger the white, the better it shows. Here is one of my homozygnous studs with it, but he has a no white factor, so it doesn't show up that well (but look at his parents pictures), both were homozygnous, so I know he was.

One thing that KerredansCorral didn't mention, and that you may not know, based on the wording of your question, is that Gulastra Plume is not testable. That means that it doesn't show up in the results of Color Testing. Kit Promoter (KP) cannot be color tested for either.

They can only be seen when they are homozygous and all the color/pattern requirements for them are also present. For Gulastra Plume, that means the horse must be Bay-based, that is, at least heterozygous E and A. KP shows up when it is homozygous and the horse also has 2 mutated Kit alleles (White and Sabino, Tobiano and Roan, White and Roan or Tobiano, etc.).

Thanks SandyCreek, I had been looking for something in the test results until my eyes about crossed. Now I know why I didn't find it. :)
