I understand I need an unbred foundation mare to get a gene license. Do i need to modify the mare's genes to match the license before i can buy the license?

And if the license isn't available, sit around in my rocking chair til it shows up in upgrades? =giggle=

the license modifies the mare ; however it can be a stud
ANY unbred Foundation can be used for the RGS
and Ammit is doing 24 hour sales on 3 a day so chances are they will show up this month :)

Nope, it will add the genes no matter what.
For example if you have a horse with no KIT genes but add KP to them, they will still have KP it just won't show up unless you modify the genes (Which can be done as long as they have to living offspring). Same goes for GP, Mushroom, Chinchilla, etc.

I can't figure out the secret to this.
When I go to upgrades, to the licenses, there's always several special horses in a column. The top one has a drop down menu to choose a horse, but the lower ones don't seem to be available. It does say choose a horse, but there's no drop down. I clicked all over the place but nothing worked.

@OopsDotCom there is only one dropdown, select the horse you want to edit first, and then they will appear next to all of the RGS genes and you can then add the one you want.

You select what horse you want from the front down list, then click modify this horse. Once you do that, your horses picture should be next to each gene.

For the Diamond Sparkle... what genes should I look for in the foundation, and would you recommend a mare or a stallion?

I have some ex perf foals, I'll pick one of them maybe? Or look for one whose coat is going to show it best?

The horse should have lots of white to show Diamond Sparkle well. So maybe look at your ex perf foals and find one that has Tobiano, Sabino, White 1, White 2, or Appaloosa. If they have lots of visible white the sparkle should show :)

None of my ex perfs have anything like a frame, but I do have a foundie frame. Would have been nice to find an appy, too. Oh, well, if wishes were horses, eh?

Okay, I've bought two strands, one the left one, one the right, but they have identical names. does that make her Homogenous, and will that breed true? I can't remember where the post was where someone explained to me.

If she's got two copies then yes, she's homogeneous. She will always pass on one copy of the gene. "Breeding true" generally refers to two homogeneous parents so that their foals will always be homogeneous for the gene in question as well.

Ah, thank you. I've gotten a foal, it says "fantasy genes", genetic testing says it's got one of the genes. When I was looking in the upgrades, it says it only needs one gene to show, yet it doesn't show on this foal. Is it because there's no frame? (Guess a stallion could have produced more foals)

Black Diamond. Had a Blackout come up with a nice frame, don't know if the foal is a blackout though.

Cute foal! So the reason you don't see a ton of the phantom diamond sparkle is because it only shows up on white markings. The foal had White20, which is what created the white socks on the hind legs. If you zoom in on those white socks, you can see the sparkles :) unfortunately you'll have to get some foals with higher-white kit genes (such as Tobiano, White 1, Frame, etc) to see the sparkles on more of the body :)

Additionally, you COULD try rerolling the foal's portrait to get a little more white (you can see some baby sparkles on her blaze too I think), but there's no guarantee that you'll get more white that way.

I have the diamonds added to white 8 on the other server, and it looks awesome. I think either that or kit m if you can add it could really show well. Example:

Also, just as an FYI - the only time you can GMT a lined horses color genes is if the parents carry the gene(s) and the foal just missed out. (You can GMT the non-color things like height, gender, consistency.)

the second one isn't mine ; the other 2 colts i'd like 10 k each for ; did you get your license or do you need me to hold them for you ? Era 0 is going to be pretty hard to find and I am not sure why? Era's to my knowledge don't affect breeding or showing quality, anything you create from the other day forward will be era 9 ; bred foals will always be the lowest era from either the mother or the father. I don't breed for pearl so can't help you there sorry
