Why was this horse neutered?
-
This horse, generation 2, https://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=11062756 was neutered by advice. I bred a perfect foundation https://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=10354552 to a first generation Exceptionally Perfect B 10.4 https://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=10354552

just because mom and dad have perfect vision doesn't mean their child wont need bracesThanked by 1OopsDotCom

Color me clueless?
-
Found another interesting one: bred two exceptionally perfects and the foal got neutered.
-
Each horse has a range of ability it can produce, it is possible they produced a foal that rolled less than 100% (Perfect) and as such is worse than it's parents, specifically it's sire as its male, and as such was gelded.
This also applies to ExPro's, but the breeding ability is somewhere between 100-105% for them.
I think Confluence covered this in the stickied info post here on the forums 'Info for New Players' post.Post edited by DarkFrost at 2020-06-17 11:46:07HJ1: 266615

Doesn't a pf and Ex Perf have 100% breeding ability?
-
its a range from 95-105 then the mares get a pasture bonus so if the foal isn't as high as the same sexed parent it will get neutered

I wouldn't mind so much except for the advice and pt scoring and other testing costs of the two parents.
-
But definitely thanks for answering. I don't think I'm going to be breeding any perfect foundations unless i neuter them instead of testing them.
-
@oopsdotcom It’s the same calculation for all horses, breeding two horses with similar breeding ability lowers the chances of spay/held but Perfect and ExPerf horses have higher breeding ability so on the whole produce higher papered foals - but doesn’t guarantee they don’t get snipped.HJ1: 266615

@OopsDotCOm ; and that is why I always suggest doing the spay / neuter test before any of the others to save moneys
