You can't remove the thread, but you can click on Edit and remove the text, replacing it with something like "Posted in error" or something like that.

On the other hand, you can also change the section something is posted in simply by clicking on edit and then changing the section to the correct one in the drop down box. You can also edit the title of a thread in this way.

It took me a long time to figure this out, since we didn't have this much leeway in the old forum, but it's one of the handy things about this simpler format.
