Not sure which Gene codes are causing the spots
  • I looked in the Genetics guide and also the Breeding Info, and if the information is there, I don't recognize it. It says "spotted", but I don't know which gene to look for, also the colour too. I might want to do a little gene modification of some others, so I have to figure out what genes I want. I do like the colour and the spots. I'd also like to know if appoaloosa would ruin it, or just act like a regular appy.

  • "White Spotted" in the color name collectively refers to several of the Kit mutations. Roan, tobiano and sabino have their own color names, and W20 does not change the color name since it generally just boosts the white of other patterns, but all the other kit mutations are just called white spotted, although each produces a unique pattern.

Your foal has both Kit M and white 3, with KP2 causing the fuzzy edges. The Kit M is the more visible of the 2 patterns.

By itself Kit M at medium WF looks like this:

W3 at medium WF loos like this:

  • Thank yoiu for your help!

I did read the genetics guide last week, but most of it went over my head.
