Safe to say, she is NOT going to be a successful show horse. :D
As @Taliesin said, her PT is irrelevant. Meet my terrible girl

I can assure you I'm going to try to breed her. If nothing else she can sit next to my sea ponies and look pretty
There's a contest going for the first horse to make 200 in damages in one day. ( I can't enter, it's my contest.) Nice prize, too.
Here's another pretty one. PT 0.0

Well when it's like that, the only place it can go is up. Does anyone know if it's possible to have a negative pt? I saved my inconsistents, I'm going to try to breed them to my super consistents and see what happens.
As for the daughter, priceless. Maybe we should have a thread for the best but weirdest names. I've got one i think should be called flood fill.Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2020-07-01 22:35:56 -
pretty sure someone in the wreckitralph bluegrass addition has a neg PT score
-
I got the negative PT, but it was from two failed paper horses.
The brindle mare here papered yellow. Her PT won’t affect her foals. -
I'm confused. Don't we breed High PT x High PT to try to get higher PT in foals? If PT doesn't affect foals, how do we get higher PT in them?
-
PT only affects show ability, higher PT means longer better showing
it has nothing to do with breed ability

@OopsDotCom, you get higher PT scores down the line by breeding better breeding ability horses. That's what Breeding Advice and Strict Breeding Advice and the paper levels are all about. A foal's PT comes straight from the parents' breeding score, so as you breed for better breeding ability, papers, ect you get better PT too.Spiderweb Stables

Here are the comments about those low PT scores:
Less than negative 1
<-1 "Well, you tried to get your horse in for the Performance test but, it kicked the trailer the whole time, screamed and in general made a fool of its self. Then it reared up and bolted before you could even get it into the ring! Good thing Dorris could did not see it. Let's just say your horse is bad. Real bad. I think Dorris would have had a heart attack."<br />
Less than zero
<0 "What are you some sort of nut job screw ball or something? Are you sure that is not a llama? Please just turn around and put that thing back in the trailer."<br />
Less than 1.1
<1.1<br /> Your prospect was so bad you actually caused Dorris to faint dead away when she saw it. This is a very bad sign. Oh how the other stables are going to talk about this!

@SandyCreekAcres ; lol I got a 0 and yep that's what it said ( posted it in her notes )
got a 0.4 and it said the 3rd comment ( again in the notes )
and regarding the PT Score and Breeding thing :

@OopsDotCom
PT scores in foundation creates have nothing to do with their breeding ability. The mare posted is a Blackest Night create so probably has 100% breeding quality. Although I thought they had 100% showing as well, obviously not! However she's passed BA so just as good as any other normal create foundation anyway.
In lined horses you don't breed high PT to high PT to get higher PT foals, you breed high quality breeders together. The ones that produce high PT don't necessarily have high PT scores themself. You don't identify them by their own PT scores but by their paper level, and comparison testing. Or you can simply breed them and see if they produce high PT.Thanked by 1OopsDotCom -
The mare was fully tested before being sold, I had many others of higher PT score that were available and would be happy to put up for sale. Her PT score will not affect her foals, she is strict breeding advice tested and therefore a decent quality of a breeder.
She was a create during a brindle/blackout type event (due to the loss of a player) and so she wasn't a perfect create like the herd helper which is why she has a random PT score.ID 213454Thanked by 1OopsDotCom -
Thank you everyone for your explanations. I am learning a lot about breeding from this thread. So far I haven't had the courage to do sba on my rank specials, but I'll check more thoroughly on the others. I had forgotten that pasture horses didn't show, and stuffed all my mares in the pastures for breeding. Now I get to take them out, and this season I'll be paying far more attention to papers.

Rank specials always pass SBA. And you can save some money on papering foundations, because they fall into three categories, which you can tell by the herd helper:
Exceptional Producers/ Exceptionally Perfect: B/Red papered, will pass SBA
Perfect Foundations/ Top Notch Producers: C/Yellow papered, but only one percentage point below B/Red. Will pass SBA. 100% breeding ability. So if you add a 1% boost to a Perfect Foundation, it will bump it up to B/Red
All other creates that pass SBA: C/Yellow papered, up to 100% breeding ability but likely lower
I'm not sure about if you don't have SBA, but I think all foundies that pass BA will also be C/Yellow. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, please
As far as rank specials, I went through and made a list of them them all and whether they're Perfect or ExPro, which you can view here if you're interested. I'm not sure what happens when a rank special is used as a special event, though, like the mare this thread started with.Spiderweb Stables

Regular Blackest Nights have 100% breeding & showing ability- they're perfect foundations.
However, since she was created during a Mourning Veil event, she has the Blackest Night tattoo & colors but the quality is unpredictable, like a regular foundation.
Post about this from the Mourning Veil event (for player CompassPoint, who had passed away):

I only bother to paper the creates that I know I'll want to be able to sort by paper level with the search later, so my stallions and fancy GMTed mares, basically. All the rest of my foundie mares I just put a little code at the front of their name that tells me paper level at a glance, which I determine using the categories above and don't test at all.Spiderweb Stables

@SherwoodStables, thank you! That's how it works for Brindle Breakout events too, though regularly rolled Brindle Breakouts are Perfect, right?Spiderweb Stables

On the Mesa server I only have a basic upgrade so can only BA horses, but yes, if they pass BA they are C/yellow papered.
-
@Taliesin yep exactly!
I think Ammit said that events will never have guaranteed perfect/exceptionally perfect horses. We do have exceptional producer events that will all paper Red or B, though. -
I am learning so much from this thread. Thanks, and don't stop now!
-
Okay, so here's what i've picked up from this thread, please correct me if i'm wrong.
Breed best producer to best producer to get (hopefully) high pt scores.
Use SBA.
Even if it has a low PT score, it's the breeding ability that counts.
So would I breed my Ex Perfects and Ex Producers together?
Oh, and If you breed a lower pt score but the breeding ability is higher than parents, would it get snipped for not being better than parent?Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2020-07-10 13:39:51 -
Since the only tests that snip horses that don't measure up are Breeding Ability and Strict Breeding Ability, which are concerned only with that aspect of the horse, you don't need to worry about horses being automatically snipped for a low PT.
-
Ah, thank you! Like I said, I'm learning a lot from this thread.
-
I've been playing since 2011, and I'm still occasionally learning new things about this game. :D
