Graduation Celebration! (Freaky Friday Giveaway)
-
I graduated architecture school this past week, but I've been saving the celebration for Freaky Friday because honestly.... That sounds like a fun giveaway. So what do you have to do, you ask? It's simple....
Because I graduated from architecture school, you need to talk about architecture.
1. What's your favorite building? (Not a trick question, I promise - no wrong answers)
2. Describe this building, in exactly nine words. You can tell me what it looks like, why you like it, or something only vaguely related. Be creative here - this is what I'm using to pick the winner :)
3. Include a picture of the building in case I'm not familiar with it. This can be via a link or embedded directly in the post.
At the bottom of your post, please include your ID number and the age, gender, weight, and size of the Freaky Friday horse you'd like me to create for you if you win.
All entries are due promptly at 6:00pm game time on Friday, May 13, 2016. The prize is a Freaky Friday horse created to your specifications.
The winner will be my favorite entry, which is very ambiguous - it will, however, be based solely on the merit of your entry, so make it good if you want the freaky pixels :)

1. Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center here in Fairbanks, AK
2. Architecturally beautiful and historically relevant for the Alaskan Athabascans*
3. Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center Gallery
220099 3 year old draft colt
This building was my immediate favourite upon my arrival to Alaska. After deciding to read up on it, I found the following information; " Many of CAIHC’s(Chief Andrew Isaac Health Center) approximately 15,000 patients must travel great distances to visit. The clinic is larger than any space in many of their small villages, so all entry points are low and non-intimidating to make visitors feel welcomed. The building’s flowing form — with clinics adjacent to the river and an exterior landscaping river bed — also provide a culturally familiar aesthetic. Its circular shape, designed to resemble a woven basket, emphasizes the Native way of life and connecting people in spirit. At the center of the gathering area lies a round made of stone and metal inlay that signifies the circle of life and cyclical nature of the seasons. It includes compass directions and seasonal elements of a subsistence lifestyle: trapping, berry picking, moose hunting, fishing and whaling. Smaller waiting rooms, all with southern exposure and views, allow for more intimate gatherings.
Additionally, design elements were incorporated to make clinic visits more comfortable and safe during extreme weather: canopies cover drop-off areas and straight pathways lead between parking and the front entry, and a fireplace burns in the lobby as symbol of warmth. The sinuous shape of the building maximizes daylighting and minimizes shadows, and the curving façade captures as much sunlight as possible — an absolute necessity in a place that sees only 4-5 hours of sunlight per day during winter months. "

Congrats on your Graduation thats awesome
1. The building I have chosen is a disused power station
south Fremantle power station built 1946 opened 1951 closed 1985. Sits on the beach front abandoned and alone.
2. Functional and Industrial but also Beautiful,Grand old dame
3.https://www.facebook.com/pages/South-Fremantle-Abandoned-Power-station /137220996337995
This grand old lady has always caught my eye. I love her long windows and the way the light falls through them as you can see in the photos on the face book page.
She is from an era when Industrial buildings where not just functional but beautiful. Since she closed in 1985 debate has raged about what to do with her. She is heritage listed. Would be wonderful to see the life put back into the grand old dame.
If chosen would love a Mare 4yr old Draft thanks 222195
