Married women of HJ, what did you do?
  • What kind of ring did you get your husband? Or wife?

So I’m trying to figure out what kind of ring I should get my fiancé for his wedding band. The problem is I don’t know what to do, I was thinking of getting him a black gold ring with my birthstone on it and my birthday engraved and painted gold on the inside. I need ideas. Help!

  • My sister's engagement ring is a skating rink lol. Her wedding band hugs it and she has an anniversary band on top, it all fits as a set. She got them melded together too so they don't spin around.

My brother in law opted for a simple matte gunmetal band. It has their wedding date engraved inside. He can't wear it at work, so he has a black silicone band also.

  • My husband and I bought $12 rings off amazon for ours. We're both super simple people and we didn't need super fancy rings (reluctantly I need a larger size soon because the heat and working is making my hands swell :(( )
But I got him one of those Black Tungsten rings but because of his job, he has to either get a waiver from the Army to get his tattooed onto his finger which I refuse to let him do, or he has to wear a silicone one which is always breaking but are super cheap so he wears the silicone ones
  • I got married some decades ago. My husband and I went shopping together and bought our rings as a matched pair. They are gold with a central pattern of x's around the outside. Nothing inside except the hallmarks.

Bambi - you should be able to get your ring stretched at a good jeweller's shop. I've had to do that as over the years my fingers have swelled a bit.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure.

  • My husband and I have matching leaf pattern silver bands we ordered from a jewelry maker on Etsy. Silver WILL get beat up though so keep that in mind if you care. I love the dings of our years together showing on the band though.

  • My husband was taking a course in Jewelry Making the summer before we were married. He made all our rings himself. His is a simple gold band which I took to a jeweler to have the wedding date engraved inside.

  • When I was married, I wore my great grandmother's wedding ring. It was a fairly simple one with 2 sapphires and 1 diamond set into the ring as inlaid stones. I don't know how else to describe them, they were flush with the ring surface, not sitting on top of the ring. I liked that it was flush with the surface.
  • I'd never have a band for every day that wasn't flush. I dig in too many gardens and clean out to many water tanks. :))

  • Intrested in this post never wanted to get married so never paid much attention to the whole affair. but a man my best friend stole my heart and now i am. i did not want an engagement ring figured i would lose it and so.many friends have been engaged and not got married seems silly to me.. but the idea of two simple bands with meaning sounds really nice...
  • I thought about having him pick one himself, which some of my friends ended up doing, or having us get a matched pair, but it was kinda fun finding something I thought he'd like - ended up with a fairly modest white-gold band with a kinda beaten pattern (which, downside, meant they couldn't resize it, and we ended up having to get it cut off his finger 'cuz he didn't want to quit wearing it... so that was fun).
My ring, he admitted like 8 years after the fact, came from a pawn shop... and he lost the wedding band that was meant to go with the engagement ring, and so back to the pawn shop he went. XD

  • My husband and I are both horse trainers and he has a silicone ring. It fits great and is inexpensive if he ever looses or breaks it!
  • He got my grandpa's wedding band from his first marriage lol.

My friend just got married and he got a tanzanite ring with a cool swirly red pattern, the red matches the stones in her ring. I call it the PewDiePie ring because it looks like Pewd's swirly pattern. The ring itself is really cool and lightweight
  • We are planning to get simple everyday rings from wish or something in tungsten and my actual wedding band will have an inlaid sapphire with a Celtic knot pattern
  • My husband picked out the one he wanted. I don't even really remember what it looks like because he switched to a rubber one for work. I think it was black and blue.
  • When we were dating my wife would buy me goofy little gifts out of "bubble gum" type machines. You know, the ones designed to get your kids to beg for a quarter? Anyway, at Christmas she put a bunch of the capsules (toys included) in my stocking, but one of them had a real ring in it! It's a really simple ring that I just love.

  • We have been married for nearly eighteen years.

My hubby insisted I have a diamond engagement ring. I have never been a fan of expensive jewelry or 'normal' diamonds. We ended up with a small, dark coloured, cognac diamond. It is bezel set in yellow and white gold and has tiny white diamonds flanking both sides. Under the bezel is is patterned with cut outs, it is quite a unique piece and I really love it.

It is an ethical diamond and was mined in Australia.

A friend of the family made our wedding rings, they are both simple plain gold bands, mine is cut to fit around my engagement ring. The fact that our friend made them as our wedding presents means the world to us.

  • Me and my best friend went to a jewelry place and looked at rings, I got him a tungsten band with a pretty hammered texture. When I proposed I told him I told him we could change it out for another one if he preferred, and we did have to get it resized, but he liked it :)

My ring's a rose cut london blue diamond on a plain gold band, from an indie jeweler.

  • What I ended up doing was picking a couple rings I liked off of amazon, then showing him pictures of them and he chose his favorite. I ended up having to buy 2, one for the size I thought he might be and one for the size he thought he was, and returned the one that didn’t fit him. He ended up wearing a rubber ring most of the time due to his work. Now he doesn’t wear a ring except on special occasions or trips.

Our rings don’t match, mine is a flush ring with stones inlaid into it. That was something I was adamant about, I don’t like it when the jewel sticks out for about a dozen reasons. I also ended up purchasing a second $10 black-hills gold ring from a pawn shop for when I’m working outside, or in the cold and don’t want the possibility of loosing my real one. I personally can’t stand rubber or silicone, if what I’m doing is too dangerous to wear a ring then I don’t wear one at all.
  • We've been married for 17 years. We started with two plain bands, gold for him and white gold for me. A few years ago he bought me a fancy ring with emerald, aquamarine and little tiny diamonds on the sides. I really love it, but as a nanny I find it easier to just wear the band I started with. I've had to replace his band once after an accident at work, but he wanted the exact same simple gold band.
  • We are in the process right now. We designed my ring, where the band looks a bit more like branches with leaves off of it, and tiny colored diamonds coming off of the blue sapphire center stone.

For him, we have decided to get him a gold band with an elvish love poem etched into it from the maker of the one ring from LoTR.

However, for backpacking/hiking vacations, we will probably opt to wear silicone bands.
