Seapony question (sort of)
  • So I know that seaponies cannot be sold now, but they are the only valuable horses that I have right now, and I really need a new barn but don't have the money to do so. What should I do?

To be clear: I am not asking for money; only advice. I refuse to be the person who begs for handouts.

  • You can sell after the ban lifts jf youre comfortable to wait :b
  • If you don't want to wait, you could also take the tail off and sell the individual horse if they have valuable genes.

Licensed for Mushroom, Splash M, Axiom Red, Axiom Blue, Wrong Warp, Onyx, Watercolor, Apple, Autumn, Diamond Sparkle, Ghosts, Cobweb, Lace, Spiders, and Jellyfish.
  • The ban may very well be permanent. If it is not they may age out before I lift it. Don't wait folks.

  • Do you still have your Song of Sleipnir?

They can sell for anywhere from 100,000 on up.
  • I have 6 Song of Splendors, 2 over the age of 10, and 9 Pretzel Twists, 6 over the age of 10.
I think those are the only "valuable" horses that I have.
  • The majority of us don't make money from selling horses. It' those show ponies. Do you have older show horses you can pjt in auction that earnt earning much points? You can auction them for their lifetime payout and free up space.

  • most of my show herd is above/near the age of 10, but my plan is to keep them until they turn 19 to sell them.
  • If your 10-and-older show horses are not placing well in their classes (you can take a look at their show results and see how they are placing after they've levelled off), you can definitely send them to auction now and not miss out on much! You'll get their current lifetime payout. The amount of money that you'd gain by continuing to show them for several more years is pretty negligible if they aren't placing high in their level.

  • * I keep a high-showing but ugly/plain stallion around to breed to my leftover mares. Using an extra pasture, his babies got straight to auction and I make 2k per foal. By using a stallion I'm not really interested in breeding, I'm not tempted to keep his foals.

    * I try to weed out my show stock monthly (or at least I try to. I've missed a couple months). After the age of ten, you can auction back horses for their lifetime payout. So I auction off those that have *leveled off* (that's important) either the bottom of their classes (i.e. coming in 14 or 15 out of 15 every week) or at a very low class (even if they're coming in 1 out of 4). The extra money they generate is worth more to me now than trickling out slowing, and they are not adding very many (if any) points to their daily payout to increase it. I keep the high earners. That will also temporarily free up space in your barn and buy you some time.

    * I've recently come a fan of putting extra mares up for brood. I just use pointed but leveled off foundations that are giving me a daily income but have no benefit from spaying. I think I've gotten an IV and half in the last two weeks just by putting up mares that I'd buy anyway for brood. It's not a lot in the big scheme of things, but when you're counting every hb, it helps.

    * I used to (over a year ago) make an okay living buying rank specials with no bids on them in the auction and selling them for higher prices (I only bid on ones with no bids so I wasn't taking them from someone who wanted them), but the rank special market has 1) deflated and 2) become a bit irregular. I used to easily be able to sell Cherry Drops for 50k a pop, but now they can be purchased for 5k or 10k most months and the time spent just stopped being worth it. Evergreens were going for 100k+ when they came out and now usually sell for less than 50k. This probably means the market is healthier. So while it could be an option, be aware that I did get stuck with a bunch of rank specials when the market for them fell out.

    * Entering contests and forum giveaways. I feel like it's not begging because people are offering. At least that's how I justify it to myself.

    * Other valuable genes that come up on regular creates are DP (especially on horses that could become livers with only one or two IVs, so an EeAA stysty DPdp, or an eeaa DPDP with no sooty, for example), snowflake (which is testable now), and prl (very rare, but sometimes shows up). If you have any mares that have those that you're not 100% happy with, it may be worth making a sale page for them.

  • I originally started breeding Livers because I was hoping to get money to GMT by selling foals, but no one ever seemed to want any, so I just stopped trying to sell them.

I have never culled my show herd before because I'm too scared of losing my daily payout.

Since the Ammit has upped the chances of getting a Seapony recently, I've been trying to make them so that I could auction them off, but since the ban on selling them will probably be permanent that's pointless to me now.

I'm beginning to wonder if I just need to hibernate for awhile and restart this whole past two weeks.
  • This game was not designed to make profit from selling horses. The show system was set up as the way to make money. I sell maybe 1-2 lined mares a season. But my show horses are making 400k a day right now. I have at least 4 times as many spelds as I do breeding mares.

Keep a pasture or 2 for breeding the lines you like. Focus your barns on all show horses...my 2nd gens from B/Red crosses are my money makers, especially as they hit leveled off at the 7W level. Auction all the poor showers - you dont really lose money - you get the daily payout as lump sum. It then gives you money and space to bring young show horses in. Spelds train better so make sure to alter them.

When I got more money in, I kept barns of pointed foundie mares for ET mares. They show, and earn points just sitting in the barn.

  • Ditto to the advice to use showing to make money for your stable.

I only occasionally buy someone else's horses and almost never sell my own. (It's called pixel pony hoarding). I have 4090 horses this morning and my showing bonus is about 221,868 hb's daily.

It does take a while to build up to that (I've been playing since 2011), but it can be done.

I think my daughter has 26,490 horses and a showing bonus of 1,692,566 hb's.

  • I'm sad that the sea pony ban won't be lifted...I planned on selling them as well.
  • So there's no point to keeping the sea ponies any more, it seems. I hung on to mine for emergency funding through sales. Can someone tell me how do you trade them in for tokens?

    Thanks.
  • if you look on the horses page there is a link :
" This Horse IS A Sea Pony and Can Be Turned In For A GMT "
Click that link and it brings you to another page, make sure the horse you want to take the "tail" off of is the correct one, then "turn it in"
