First Clone Project: Introducing Onx Dammah
-
I am pleased as peaches to announce the cloning of my prize boy, Onx Leucoryx (who is already 16 this year!!).
Introducing Onx Dammah!
Onx Dammah
Like his "sire", Onx Dammah is homozygous for onyx and heterozygous for wrong warp, watercolor, and dense phenomelanin. I also scrimped and saved to add a copy of Splash M, which I have long desired. So lots of offspring possibilities. He is also homozygous for PATN, so crossing with LP mares give lots of spotty babies.
If I can save up the IVs before I need him for breeding, I'm hoping to add a copy or two of S+ to Onx Dammah as well. If I win the big lottery, may even some KP! I bought my premium upgrade specifically to clone Leu before he aged out, so I am super glad at how Dammah turned out.
Why Leucoryx and Dammah? Here's your natural history lesson for the day! Leu was named after the Arabian Oryx, a light colored Oyrx also know as the White Oryx. Oryx leucoryx was extinct in the wild by 1970, but due to a breeding and release program, there are now over 1,000 Arabian oryxes in the wild (with another 6,000 to 7,000 still in captivity.) Onx Dammah is named after the Scimitar Oryx, which is the only oryx species with curved horns and ironically, has no dark markings on its legs. Oryx dammah was declared extinct in the wild in 2000. In 2016 a group of 21 individuals was released into the wild, and in 2017, the first wild calf was born in over 20 years."Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving." - PTerry Pratchett

I think I might be done now. In addition to the Splash M, I added a copy of Kit M and S+. He'll be a looker when he grows up!
