Pastures and breeding query
-
So I read the Pasture stuff, how I could place X many mares with Y stallions in a pasture.
I could either breed them directly (costing hb) or leave them alone and let nature do its thing.
My stallions can't have a stud fee as aren't available for public breeding, but what about my mares?
I logged on to find out someone had bred to my mare... One I'd not set a breeding value for, but placed in my pasture to grow a bit with my stallions...
How is this possible and what sort of fee is taken/given? I'd hoped my girl would breed for myself later on, so wasn't breeding her yet.
Really confused. Do I have to hide all my mares in the stables and not let them get better foals from being in the pasture?
Who keeps the foal bred from MY mare, but another's stallion?Post edited by emilybunny at 2016-06-09 07:08:31 -
A link to the horse would help.
But I believe if they are put up for public before going into the pasture, they stay available.
And the foal is kept by the one who clicked the breed button. If a stallion owner uses your mare, they get the foal. If a mare owner uses your stallion, they get the foal. Likewise, if you use someone else's horse, you get the foal. -
If you didn't set a breeding fee then it shouldn't have happened. Are you sure you didn't set one by accident? If someone has bred to your mare then they keep the foal. Sometimes it says that your mare has been bred but there is no sign of a foal from her - that could be because they yummed the foal, or that they used the mare as a brood mare for their own embryo.
-
Here a link to my girl,
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=4116517
I'd hoped to breed her myself later on, but I can't now!
She had NO fee set. I don't with my mares. My stallions yes, but not the girls.
@white valley what do you mean by "yummed" seen it a few times... -
Yummed is when the foal is sold to the 'Fujiyama Super Yum Yum cooperation' and removed from the game.
-
It even says that horses in the pasture CANT be used for public breeding... Even on my stallions
-
@DelilahNBell has a forum account. Probably easiest just to ask them if the mare was listed for public breeding.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I pm'ed her.
She said mare was. But I don't understand how. And even if she was, the blurb says Pasture stallions/mares can't be used for public breeding... -
Looking in the database she was listed for breeding publicly for 200 hbs. I also see the alert the game sent informing you she was used for public breeding.
ETA: Looking at your stallions it looks you put her up for breeding thinking she was a stud. Read Gaels post above she explains it.Post edited by Ammit at 2016-06-09 08:28:26Need to contact me? Read this first.

I've had some difficulty with the site in places.
First off I play the site via my iPad Air tablet using Safari, in case that makes an impact.
The tablet is easier for me to use than a keyboard on standard PC.
Hopefully I can explain this well enough and if it'll let me add images.
So I have my horse, and go to their profile.
There they have a Sale and Breeding fee/cost boxes.
These boxes have numbers in them. Often 2500 for Sale and 1000 for breeding.
I delete the number from the Sale box and enter 0 then hit Go.
I then got to my stable, then return to the horse's profile.
When I do, the value in Sale box isn't 0 it's what it was before!
The same happens with Breeding values.
If I leave the individual horse's page, the numbers will no longer remain a 0.
I'm not sure if my horses appear as For Sale or For Public Breeding, mbut they shouldn't.
I've been through every single horse and changed the Sale figure to 0, only for it to change later.
The same for my mares' breeding values. They were all set to 0.
If I enter any number BUT 0, as I've done with my Stallion Breeding Fee, it stays that number when I leave and come back to a page.
Is this a bug?
Is it due to using a tablet?
Can I fix this? -
It's not a bug it's intentional behavior our members asked for. The game remembers what you had a before and auto fills it in for you. This makes it easy and fast for big barns to list horses for breeding each year. A number in the box doesn't mean the horse is up for sale or breeding. There is no reason for you to be setting it to zero. It tells you on a horses front page if it is for sale/breeding.
ETA: It also tells you on your barn page if a horse is up for breeding/sale etc.Post edited by Ammit at 2016-06-09 08:33:59Need to contact me? Read this first.

I did a double check on everyone yesterday, adding tattoos etc... And entering values a 0 on my mares.
If you look at a horse in your pasture it says it can't be used for public breeding.
"Horses in pasture can not be used for public breeding." - copied from my stallion profile and also found on my old enough mares.
So even if a horse had a breeding value, such as my stallions in my Pasture, they shouldn't be breedable by anyone but myself.
Is this a bug? Since information given contradicts the reality?
The mare in question was in my Pasture when she was bred...
If a horse has a breeding value, but can still be bred to when they're in the Pasture, this needs to be put in the Pasture information. To make sure remove all breeding values before doing so...
Just gone through all my mares again, by taking them out the Pasture and making breeding value 0, which changed after I left. So lost my few days bonus, thankfully under a week for most... -
From Gaels post above: if they are put up for public before going into the pasture, they stay available. :)Need to contact me? Read this first.

There was no reason to take your mares out of the pasture or to set them to zero. It tells you on the mares page if they are up for breeding or not. You can also search for horses who are "for breeding" owned by your id number in the search and see every horse you have for breeding.Need to contact me? Read this first.

@Ammit thanks for clearing up the numbers thing.
Still really confused by the whole can actually be used for public breeding even if in pasture thing, when info says you can't... -
@Ammit there's no details on the Pasture use info page explaining that even though the horse's profile (control panel) will say "Horses in pasture can not be used for public breeding." it won't be the case if you've already given it a public value before putting it in the Pasture.
From the wording of the Pasturn use info and the horse profiles, it comes across that once in a pasture, the horse's can't be bred by anyone else... Even IF had a breeding value.Post edited by emilybunny at 2016-06-09 08:48:17 -
It's not intentional behavior. You can't put them up for breeding, but if you put them up before hand it circumvents that. It was not discovered until recently because it has basically never been a problem before.Need to contact me? Read this first.

It will get fixed once someone adds it to the bug list and I get a chance to fix it. Having a new baby means little things like this that haven't been a problem in the past are low on the to fix list.Post edited by Ammit at 2016-06-09 08:53:51Need to contact me? Read this first.

Shall I flag this in the bug thread?
As a newbie I just go off the info I get from the info sheets and the details each horse has on its profile, then check the forums for bits I'm confused over, msorry ch as this issue.
I've triple checked my girls, and hopefully none show up as breedable.
Was so sure she wasn't set to public breeding... But once in the Pasture you can't modify the numbers...
Sigh...
Gutted I can't breed her now as I planned too after 30 days
Gotta wait till July correct for new cycle I can breed her in? -
Emily, I have placed this unbred Color With A Really Long Name mare up on buddy sales for you. She doesn't really fit in with my current breeding goals, so you are welcome to have her. :)
