Well, I took my exam...
-
So a while ago I posted about my application being accepted to sit for my AVECCTN exam. It is the emergency and critical care technician specialty group. It is a 3 to 5 year process to be eligible for application, then a year long application process of skills, case logs and case studies. That was accepted this spring and today, I sat for the proctored exam at home. The conference was cancelled due to COVID so a special software was utilized to take the exam. It was a 3 hour process for me, but I finished.
I feel ok, I definitely knew some answers but I definitely didn't know others and had to due some eliminations and guessing. I am confident in my math problems but got overhwhelmed with some electrolyte and disease processes. They say everyone walks away feeling like they failed. So now I wait a month or two to hear my results. I can take the exam up to 3 times before I would have to reapply again. So now just waiting....and worrying.... at least I can take a break from reading. -
<:-P Congrats on getting your test taken! Here's hoping for a good result!ID 252818 | Breeding for TE livers, with satin hopefully

No point in worrying - just tell yourself that if you have to take it again you'll know what to expect. Then, if you have passed, you will have achieved your goal. In the meantime, like you said, you don't have to study so give yourself some 'me time'. Fingers crossed for you. :)
-
Wow! That sounds seriously intense. Fingers crossed its good news.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that you passed. It sounds like you really worked as hard for this certification as I did getting my bachelor's degree for teaching Latin. You've set your eyes on a great profession! Good luck.

Continue at my current hospital. We have a new criticalist at our hospital, so I am expecting more critical cases to utilize my skills. I can participate on committees within the Academy. I am not a fan of pulic speaking but there are so many opportunities to present continuing education lectures that I may consider doing some in the future.

I am a foster mom for cats ; what has that got to do with Public speaking you might ask ? well its my heart job and so i learned to speak out about the Pet Crisis we have in the US ; first to 1 or 2 people than gradually to more ; find something you are passionate about ; gather up 5 or so freinds and tell them you are practicing for public speaking ; gradually increase the number ; ask for their honest feedback ; it HELPS ; also videoing your self or have one of the freinds do it ; that way you can see where you fidget or "UHM LIKE WELL SO AND " and work on it

Huge congrats! That is a lot of hard work and it certainly paid off!
