So if you have any Black Splash Tobiano Frame Appaloosas for sale that do not cost an arm and a leg or any mares of that color up for breeding PLEASE let me know. I’m on a mission to try to breed one that looks like my first real life horse and so far these are the closest that I’ve seen on this game to looking like her. I must also say that I’m absolutely in love with my new boy!

please be aware of Frame Lethality as well as Excessive White Lethality ;
please read this and understand it ; the number of foals you may loose can be discouraging

Well I’ve read it but can say I really understand it! Might as well be in another language!

As I said I’m on a mission to breed one that looks like my first real life horse and this color is the closest that I’ve seen to her on this game. To me the fact that I could lose foals just makes it that much more challenging!

ok the white combo's in the green highlighted boxes are " safe" to breed
the more white you get on a horse ; the higher the likelihood for lethality ; IE ; an Excessive White ( something ) bred to an Excessive White ( something ) is more likely to produce a lethal ( non viable ) foal then minimal to minimal
Frame to Frame is a 25% shot of lethality ; it is ALWAYS lethal when HOM

I think The Vault Of Stars heard helper will help you with this a lot since they are that color but with appaloosa though but thought it might help!

Also the main thing with breeding frame(that I remember) is that you can't breed frame to another horse with frame Especially if the other is HOM Frame (means pretty much certain death for the foal if there Hom)! The safest way to breed frame is to either have a stud with NO Frame to HET Frame mares and keep only the het frame foals or vice versa! Hope that helps you understand a little more! :)

HorseAngel - Yes. I’ve been trying to find “Vault of Stars” horses in sales. Obviously I want intact ones. I have bought a few. However not much luck breeding them so far though. 2 didn’t survive, 2 were Spelded and 1 remained intact. So out of 5 breedings so far I got 1 good one! Guess it’s better then none but I was hoping for slightly better odds then that.

So would it be better then to breed my “Vault of Stars” horses to say just a Black Tobiano?

Your welcome and yes you probably would have a better survival rate if you breed them to just Black Tobianos with no frame! Also breeding horses of the same paper levels and using pastures can help you get more intact foals :D Wish you luck with your search!

To further what HorseAngel said, it might be a good idea to use a main stallion that doesn't have frame, and mares that do.

also, when you are breeding you want to try to keep the paper level and generation the same ; VoS mares are YELLOW papered ( and obviously 1st gen ) so you want to breed to a 1st gen C papered Stallion or if you leave them in pasture possibly a B papered Stallion for the best chance of keeping them intact.

I didn’t know that paper level makes a difference of how many remain intact. Very strange and pretty stupid that it makes a difference.

I am going to refer you back to the Beginner's Guide that we discussed a while ago ; if you have specific questions we can go through it
Basically ; you test the foals back against the parent of the same sex ; if they test SUPerior ; its better than momma or daddy ; they can also test As Good As or Worse
so even IF they pass BA / SBA and test WORSE then parents you would speld them to make your line better
if they test AGA then it depends on how fast / how much you love the look
if they test SUP you know you ve made an improvement even IF they paper test the same as their parents ; at some point they will paper UP ( Yellow UP to Red UP to Blue UP to Gold* ) ; just like grades in school there are levels within the paper grades ( a 91 is still an A but not as good as a 99 ) its all basically numbers. you may not get there over night but you will get there as long as you keep breeding evenly / similar

Jeesh! This game is complicated! I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to truly figure it out but it’s also extremely interesting and a learning experience with the way the genetics work. I must say that part of this game has got me pretty much hooked!

annismyrph - May I ask you a question?

I’m just curious do you know if there’s Few Spot Appaloosas on this game and if so then what would I put into search to find them? I’ve tried putting “Few Spot” but nothing seems to come up for me. Also what about Black Spotted Blanket Appaloosas? How would I find those? I know I’ve seen them on this game. In fact I have 2 of them! But I don’t know how to find any in sales or auction.

Few spot appaloosas have two copies of the Lp gene. When you search, put in “must have Lp” and “must not have lp”. That search combo will give you only homozygous (few spot) appaloosas.

Also, you’re welcome to ask me any other genetic questions you have. I’m currently studying Equine Science and Management with an emphasis on reproduction because I want to be a horse breeder, so I know quite a bit about equine genetics, both in the game and in real life.

I don’t see where you put in must not have Ip but I did manage to find a few. Would be nice if I knew if they were Homozygous or not though.

I did a search, you can see how I entered "Must Not Have" in the "-" menu in the LP box under the White Markings tab. That gives you only homozygous LP. I also narrowed it down to all EE or Ee horses under the age of 10. It is a big search so might take a minute to load.

@annismyrph - I seriously shouldn’t have looked at your Black Appaloosas! You have a Mare and 3 fillies that I am absolutely in love with. OMG! One of your fillies looks so much like my first real life horse including her blue eyes that I wanted to scream when I saw her. She’s absolutely gorgeous! You really have a beautiful herd of Black Appies. I must say I’m jealous!

yes i d sell her ; be aware please i only have a basic upgrade ; so she only pased BA ; i cant test SBA ; and 1hb would do it if you have your own chat invite me ; if you dont i ll put her in frustrated horses for you :) actually if you post the other 3 you like ; i d probably be willing to sell them for the same price lol ( i just need to see which they are first lol )

I’m going to have to look through your Black Appys again and post which ones they are. I can’t remember their names any more.

Got them! Thank you so very much! I love them. Especially the filly that looks like my first real life horse. I’m so in love with her! I even changed her name to be my horse’s name that she looks like
