Wanted: Buddy Breeding Partners
-
I want to try out this new buddy breeding option and need a few partners. At the moment I am not looking to breed anything myself just yet, but eventually will.
For partners I am looking for people who have similar breeding goals.
Partners Must Have: but not limited to...
Sport Ponies. The majority of my equines will be ponies. I may acquire warmbloods from time to time to also use, but majority will be sport ponies. Some of my foundations are not ponies and my 2g and 3g pedigreed ponies will not be strictly 100% pony, so if you are looking for 100% pony I may not be the best partner for you. I will have some that are 100% pony, but it is not something I am strict about. My goal is not to breed the smallest to smallest, but just sport ponies in general and go where ever that takes me.
Liver. I aim for breeding liver but it is most definitely not all I breed for but I want partners that also bred a lot of liver ponies, however my livers are usually not just liver and have other patterns and modifiers. I also have a few color with a really long name lines. Pearl and Champagne are other genes I aim for. I do have grey horses but I avoid using grey stallions unless maybe they are star.
Quality.I am trying to stay on par with the rule that each generation needs to .5 PT increase to stay intact.
Foundation: -
2nd Gen: 10.5
3rd Gen: 11
4th Gen 11.5
5th Gen: 12
6th Gen: 12.5
7th Gen: 13
8th Gen: 13+
No Super Boosted Foundations. I do not use stallions or mares that are foundations papered A/blue or better. Half of my foundations are either regular/perfect creates or exceptionals and I do like to cross the two for breeding. Any higher paper levels than that and breeding for intact becomes to difficult with the rest of my herd in the early generations. I want to avoid uneven lines in the beginning because its just easier to keep tract of where the quality is and should be that way. If you want 100% except or regular foundations pedigree lines, I have some but I am not focused on keeping them separated although I may be heading in that direction. Breeding partners of course do not have to. Just because you do have super boosted horses will not cross you out of being a breeding partner if you also have the above listed.
As for restrictions I have two and only two.
1. Keep the quality going. You don't have to breed liver to liver or pony to pony. You also do not have to breed even to even pedigree, just match quality. Also, accidents happen, you don't have to yum, you can keep them as show ponies or you can sell foals you don't want in the public breeding if you want...has long as #2 applies.
2. Please do not yum foals unless the mare is papered. One reason I am opening up to buddy breeding is to get some mares bred and papered. If you happen to accidentally do it or just need room for that extra special horses I will not even notice. This is just as a courtesy to me, so this is a very very lose "restriction".
My older lines I am also putting up just a few on buddy breeding, with pretty much no restrictions except match quality to quality. They all are gold mares. Most horses will tell you the generation they belong too. Any horse with XG is not an even pedigree but will be papered level gold/star.
I also have a ton of foundation mares that I will likely not be using this season and will put up for buddy breeding. A lot are special HH and some GMT horses with pearl.
This is where my newer lines are heading
And CWARLN
A couple of notes:
My ID is 123565 if you want to look at my horses.
My newer lines are more restrictive than my older lines in terms of quality. I am aiming for C -> B-> A-> Star pedigrees and the same with mares. So 4th gen I am aiming for everything gold/star, if its not, I am culling it. Would like similar partners.
Any ice/nexus horses I have will not be on buddy breeding.

This is a pretty intense list! Might be better to save this level of rules until we have the buddy groups where you can have multiple groups instead of one giant friends list and it works more like a private club. I think that would better serve what you are looking for.Post edited by Ammit at 2016-07-03 15:09:37Need to contact me? Read this first.

I am game to try it with a few of mine! I will not have as many mares at the moment as I had a spay fest. But I have two Freaky Friday studs fixing that :D 148581

I didn't think I had that many actual rules, basically just have some ponies, some liver and quality going down the line which I think a large majority do here any way. And even those are flexible. But will look out for the buddy group. But even with different buddy groups, wont they all still be on one friends list for breeding?
Redbud, I'll add you to my list. I have some liver mares that are regular creates, perfect and exp. that are liver that you can use. And a ton of other foundies that I wont be using this year that you can use. I will likely only use a handful myself this year, ones that are special and I dont have any foals from.
Edited to add: I have a couple 2g and 3g that are up at the moment that you can use for anything, but none of the livers yet.

I'll be in, I breed liver sport ponies and cobs with KIT patterns. Most of my newest stallions are cobs though which may not suit?
-
Honestly I am not real picky. I wont be creating cobs as foundations but it certainly wont stop me from using them down the line if I need to. By 4th gen, quality is harder to find and I would much rather use a quality cob then nothing at all or lesser quality. And using any sport pony of mine to cross with your cobs would be fine with me as well.
Will you be keeping them strictly cob lines and/or sport pony lines? Or crossing? -
I'll cross them, I just prefer the smaller ones lol. All my older lines are ponies
-
Great. I've added you to my buddy breeding already.
It looks as though I will have to create a tattoo for buddy breeding because none are showing up on search.
