I'm Back To Lessons!
-
Ok so long story short (and still kinds long) my whole riding career I've been kind of on-off with riding. It's never been consistent because I could never find a place that wouldn't break the bank and would also keep my leveling up. I've been riding for 13 years, I started western pleasure and have since switched to dressage, hunter, and now I'm doing hunter/jumper. SO between switching disciplines and not being able to afford expensive places, I've been stumped in my riding. Everyone always says the don't have horses for my level so I'm stuck riding at lower levels then I'd like (which I didn't mind for a little but because I just love riding, but eventually started feeling stuck). So everyone who has trained me made me feel like I just wasn't good enough to move up.
But in March, right before the pandemic I somehow just happened upon a lady who knew someone looking for a working student. I've been a working student PLENTY of places, but this girl was so so nice and we just clicked. So I took lessons on her friends retired jumper from March until August. I got really confident again and we started talking about showing and what goals I wanted. But in August the owner of the barn we were both at had a come-apart and kicked everyone in the barn out (it was a small private barn with only 3 full time boarders) and so my trainer had to take a break until she settled into the other barn she managed. At the time they didn't need another working student.
But a few weeks ago my trainer contacted me and said they finally needed some help and I can start working and this barn paid better. And now I get to start lessons again! I am SO EXCITED! I see myself moving up and I just can't wait to start feeling un-stuck in my riding. My goal the past 4 years has been to jump over 3'3" (1meter), I've don't 1meter once but never higher and I've jsut really wanted to do it and I think when I tell my trainer my goal I'll get there in good time.
I feel confident as a rider, now I just need to get back in shape.
Ok thank you everyone for reading! I'm just so excited to tell somebody about it! -
Congratulations! That sounds fantastic and I'm so excited for you!Formerly OscarWildin

Congrats! Actually I do Hunter/Jumper. I have an story to tell. So one day I was riding this mare named Twinkle who is a buckskin with a star. Every one says she looks like Spirit from Spirit stallion of the Cimmarron. So I was just trotting over a simple Crossrail oxer. She didn't know it was an oxer an jumped it like it was a 4 foot one. It actually is my profile and guess what she is the slowest horse ever and she is 26!Blu.EQ Stables #267810

Congratulations! Good luck at improving your skills to the next higher level, kgstable.
cissycat: That's quite a mare!Thanked by 1kgstable -

I trained in 3 day eventing for ever and actually went to college on a scholarship for it ( the joke is they paid for my a** ) I Competed for them nationally and also competed in the Medal Maclay Circut. Now that I am older I miss it like heck ; but I also now I have completely messed up my back becuase back then the stretching and excersizes were not considered "necessary" ; SO while I applaud you for going for it ; take it from an older broken horsewoman ... PLEASE do your stretches like they mean something and take your warm ups and cool downs seriously ; and most of all GOOD LUCK and HAVE FUN !

@annismyrph Wow! I always forget to stretch but I'll ask my trainer to remind me now!

@kgstable we have now a saying: you did a Twinkle!Blu.EQ Stables #267810
