Hello everyone! So I really like mythical beasts and fantasy animals, especially Dragons (Obsessed with Wings Of Fire and How To Train Your Dragon lol!) and I also love Riddles so............this seemed like a fun idea for a contest, plus we haven't had a good riddle contest in awhile! Spoiler dragons love telling riddles too and often play riddle games with humans in mythology and folklore, though you really don't want to loose to a dragon! They may just eat you!

Rules!

*Please send me a PM with your best answers so as not to give it away for other players! (Please Don't Use Google, Just give it your best try! Thank You!)

*Anyone who participates may pick out any stallion of breeding age of mine to receive a straw from for 1hb! Free Accounts also have the option of choosing a lined foal from my sale barn if they would perfer to here! Some fantasy is included!

Okay Here We Go............

You are wondering deep in a dark forest toward home (and thinking this short-cut was a very bad idea) when you finally brake out of the forest in to a long steep gorge and suddenly come upon an old scarred and long whiskered dragon with blue scales laying on the path though the gorge and blocking your way! You can't go back the way you had come either so you wearily approach the dragon, who challenges you to answer some of his best riddles before he will let you pass on your way! You have no choice, now you must beat the dragon's riddle game before it gets too dark for you to continue on (and you defintely don't want to miss Thanksgiving Dinner!), though being an very old (and wise) dragon likely means that this won't be easy! Put on your thinking cap and give it your best shot so you can make it home in time, you could possibly even earn the title of The Riddle Master while your at it! Good Luck To You!............

The Dragon's Riddles

1. Weight in my belly
trees on my back,
nails in my ribs,
feet do I lack.
What am I?

Answer: A Ship

2. Can you tell me what rhymes with moon
and could be written on a page, or on a rock for age on age,
this ancient letter tell me soon!

Answer: Rune(s)

3. Like a coat of shining mail,
On my back down to my tail,
On a snake from tail to throat,
Never on a cow or a goat,
Sounds like eight notes on a harp,
And you'll find them on a carp.

Answer: Dragon Scales\Scales

4. The wave, over the wave,
a weird thing I saw,
throught-wrought, and wonderful ornate;

Bonus Riddles Just For Fun: The Sphinx!

And here are some bonus mythical riddles that are for fun (not dragon related) and won’t count even if your right or wrong! But first some mythology background for you all (because I’m weird like that lol)! Have you ever heard of The Riddle Of The Sphinx? First off, if you didn’t know, a Sphinx is a mythical creature with origins in both Greek and Egypt! In Greek mythology the Sphinx has the head of a woman, the haunches of a lion and the wings of a bird. In Egypt the creature can have a human head, or the head of a falcon, a cat, or a sheep with the body of a lion and the wings of an eagle.

The Sphinx was seen as more of a spiritual guardian in Egypt but a monster in Greek mythology. Interestingly the Greek form was considered to be a woman while in Egypt the Sphinx was most often depicted as a male and figures of them were included in tombs and temples. The Sphinx is also similar to another mythical creature called a Manticore (you can look up more about the Myth Of The Sphinx or The Manticore after you send in your answers, if you would like to know more!)

And secondly there are two known Riddles Of The Sphinx in mythology, below are both the most famous one (and has many slightly different versions to it but the answer to all of them is still the same) and the lesser known 2nd Riddle Of The Sphinx! So………….Can You Answer Them?

1. What creature walks on four legs in the morning,
Two in the afternoon,
And three in the evening?

Answer: Man, Who as an infant crawls on all fours, walks on two legs as an adult, and walks with a walking stick\cane in old age.

2. There are two sisters, one gives birth to the other
And she, in turn gives birth to the first,
Who are the two sisters?

Answer: Day and Night

Bonus Ancient Rome Riddle

3. I am the beginning of the world,
And I am the end of ages,
But I am not a God.

Answer: The letter "M", in Latin the word for World begins with M (mundus) and the word for Ages ends with M (saeculorum)

Oh and something for riddle #6 since that one seems to hang everyone up a bit so far, its tricky and a little wacky and is not made to make any sense! It is the last part that kind of gives you a clue as to its answer! Hope that helps everyone! ;)

Ok this contest is now closed! Unfortunately we didn't get a Riddle Master but there were some very interesting and creative answers to the riddles! A Great Job to everyone that had entered and gave it a shot! Thank you to all for taking the time to play, hope you all enjoyed it too!

Now, with out further ado here are your would be Ending outcomes for you all and I have edited in all the answers under each of the riddles in the post as well! Here We Go(again lol).................

The Endings

*For the Riddle Masters(answered all riddles right):

When the smoke clears and the dust settles...........you find yourself standing there staring into the Old Dragon's fiery eyes, both of you blinking in shock.........How Could This Be? You, a little human, winning the dragons own game? You feel a sense of Victory, of Pride(and a great sense of Relief to be alive as well)! The dragon doesn't speak, but gives you a little nod of his head, turns away(blushing with embarrassment) and off of your path. He sulkingly slinks away into the forest, looking very defeated indeed! Now you must be on your way, the sun is setting fast! You take off on home and arrived back to everyone setting there at the table..........in time for the Thanksgiving prayer's to be said, with minutes to spare! :D

*For the ones with 5 or more right:

What? You didn't best the Wise Old Dragon? Well you are very lucky indeed, because as the dragon's head was turned away, distracted by a bird(Lunch maybe?), you snuck off down the trail! You dashed, zigzagged, and ran as the dragon gave chase! With his thunderous roars shaking the trees, you hid behind a boulder and by some great miracle. ..............you had made it home in the dark, just in time to eat Thanksgiving Dinner(though to your dismay all of the pumpkin pies were gone)! :)

And the rest of you who challenged the Wise Old Dragon? Well................you were never seen in your little Village again, such a sad thing indeed........................The End! ;)

Any feedback is welcome as well, as this was my first real time hosting a contest of my own(besides doing an 1 year Anniversary Giveaway) so I wouldn't mind to know what you all though of it! What was your favorite part perhaps? Were any of the riddles too hard or too easy? Is there anything that could be better? Different prizes? Did you like the story endings at all? Anything is welcome, thank you!

Thank you @Glengirl2! That was what I was hoping to achieve and I'm certainly glad that it all came together the way that I wanted it too! :D Spent almost 2 whole weeks on it lol! I also really tried to incorporate a story line for the beginning and the story endings with the riddles being the middle part! Though that would make it a little more exciting! The next one will have the same rules and prizes but have a different situation and all new riddles! :D
