The sire pretty consistently gives the DMSP stars to his foals, but at the same time strict advice neuters a large number of them.
I don't understand why so I can't fix it. This one is just an example. I can't do my best at breeding until I understand stuff like this.
Thank you. -
You'll have better luck getting passing foals if you breed to red papered mares. The yellow papered mares aren't of the same quality as the stud which pulls the foals quality down making them not pass breeding advice.Thanked by 1OopsDotCom

That makes sense. Now I understand why some of the people trying to explain how they culled said they cull their yellows too. I'm going to take your advice.
Do you know if there's any way to rename straws? Trying to figure out what the statistics on a straw is hard to keep track of. Or do you go with the old fashioned notebook? -
The only way I've found to rename straws is to rename the stallion.

You can change the label on a straw using the sales page for straws and eggs.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

Pasture breeding can increase the chance of getting a foal that passes, as the pastures give a little boost to the mare. She needs to be in the pasture for 30 days to get the full bonus.
That being said, sometimes its just luck of the draw. I do have a few yellow mares in my pastures, and occasionally they knock it out of the park. I get SBA passing blue mares from them occasionally. Other times, all I get are show horses. There are definitely times when I wish a foal passed but I know I can try again next month. The foal is still going to make you money as a show horse. -
I agree with everyone else. I generally never use mares that are yellow papered for breeding, only red! :)Previously known as "lethalximpulse".

I like to do C x Yellow to build up my second gen :)I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. I appreciate your patience with me!

I use Yellows as long as they have the 30 day bonus from the pastures, I have had the odd B/Yellow no bonus pass strict and sup to dam, it happens. I tend to shy from AI, unless its a crossing that I just can't do in the pasture.
-
I do a lot of AI since my one pasture is being used part of my second generation, and I do get a lot of show horses, but when I get a horse that is breeding quality, it makes me SO happy!I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. I've gotten 2nd gen As and Blues out of B x Yellow crosses in my pastures. It's just luck.
