That seems so unfair. My 6 year old granddaughter is having to self-isolate as one of her classmates tested positive. My daughter has had to take this week off, work weren't happy but they know the situation (someone else had to do it for the same reason last week). Is there anyone you can ask about this? Union rep or political representative or something?

Can you go get tested and tell them that you're waiting on the results?
I feel like this should fall under FMLA in which case they have to pay you.

Edit to add if it's under FMLA you can use any paid personal, sick or vacation time to get paid.

I'm not sure where you are in the world but I'm in Maryland and there are free testing stations all over the place.. my mom works for the health department here and they do free testing.. I would call your local health department and see if they can give you any leads for free testing

Your not alone trust me, I feel like a lot of people don't. Aka I'm one. I'm a CNA (well I'm still an NA but they need people to help not to follow so I'm working the floor) that was working in a positive building with my mom.
I woke up and felt like crap but my mom made me go anyway. So we go and sure enough I'm positive, we immediately leave.
A week later and we are still at home with no income what so ever...we have applied for unemployment but who knows when that's going to come freaking through. Oh, did I tell you we weren't getting hazard pay? Nor was I getting paid as a CNA, I was getting paid as an NA even though I was working the floor? I'm not going to even go there though...

We plan on moving on January 8th so these next few checks are precious. And right now we don't have the hours(or any income at all) we should, meaning less money for the move from Texas back to Nevada. Sucks.

I'm so sorry you are going through this! Let's hope the gov't can get their ducks in a row and get another stimulus check out for those who aren't working or have lost wages due to quarantining. Fingers crossed that neither you nor your son test positive! Unfortunately, without a widespread federal response, all of this has been left up to local gov'ts and there is no consistency at any level. Where I am, in PA, people are fighting the new restrictions, defying orders and causing chaos everywhere while numbers have sky rocketed and healthcare workers are paying the price.

The craziness never ends. We are in dire straights are my work - now having 24 individuals test positive and more than 70 staff. I'm so lucky where I work we were afforded 80 hours of covid time (no hazard pay, though), but that expires 12/31 and I have a sneaking suspicion, since four people I work directly with have tested positive in the last two days, that I'll be next on the list. The worst part is, all of us have been working OT every day whether we want to or not, and we are exposing more and more people throughout the shift. Never in my life have I been more grateful for my regular days off than I have been these last few weeks. I'm off tonight, so I miss the snowstorm and the mandated overtime that will surely accompany it. One of our 'sister' centers that is slated to close in 2022 has now had more than ten individuals and several staff people pass from the virus. At my center, we still have people hospitalized including some staff that are in serious condition, but we have not lost anyone yet.

I am glad and utterly sad that I'm not the only one who is frustrated with this, or going through it. I'm sorry and hope those on this thread that have had close contact don't test positive. And hopefully family members recover quickly.

Update; the kiddo started to show the mild symptoms the day his QT was supposed to end, he was tested yesterday, will find out tomorrow or Christmas Eve if he's positive. I'm starting to show some symptoms too, but no fevers for us other then a low grade one (99.9F or less.) Yay. She says with much sarcasm. We can both still taste everything, can only get this kid to eat a few yogurts, maybe some fruit snacks, or granola bars and drink milk or apple cider. But stuffy noses, occasional dry coughs, feeling like we have a fever/being clammy/sweaty. And the kid who fights sleep until 10/10:30pm at night has been going to sleep at 9:30pm and waking up at 8:19am, nearly 11 hours of sleep for 4 nights now.

Well got the test back, thankfully he was negative, just the regular flu, and he's over that already. But over Christmas Eve my daughter was with her mother and her mom's family and her great grandpa tested positive, and his mom is a close contact and my daughter is a close contact of her so hoping that great great grandma is negative as well and her great grandpa recovers.

But 2020 sucks just for the fact that I have now lost 3 childhood pets within a month, my 18 year old cat that I've had for her whole life from old age and cancer and liver failure. My 11 year old lab x great pyrenes mix less then a year after his knee replacement surgery, he lost all strength in his back legs, and needed a double harness to be helped up and down. And my brother's 20 year old cat that we had until she was two years old then went missing only to return to us years later, with a ton of issues, she likely had cancer and liver failure on top of her diabetes and resistance to insulin, but failure to thrive or get better off of the insulin as well.
And I couldn't be there for any of them because of Covid, and because I live 8 hours away...I got to say good bye to Spits over messenger video, but didn't get that chance today with Patches or Tracy...

Patches/Pea patch/Patch bear 11 year old pup who put up with my son and daughter, and was happiest when the kids were inside the fence jumping on the netted trampoline, because the were double contained.

Fantasia/Tracy/Tree Kitty 20 year old cat, who thought she was a dog, didn't know how to groom herself the right way, and ran with a hitch.

I'm glad they aren't in pain anymore but I sure do miss them

So sorry to hear about your pets, I had to put down my dog(best friend in the world) because of cancer and its not the same without them(even though its been years now) but at least they aren't suffering any more. @};-

I can sympathize, I had to put down my shadow due to cancer. Her name was Winnie, she was an orange tabby with some white markings. She was literally my shadow. She came into my life after I married my then hubby. He got me a 5 month old kitten from some friends at work. They were looking to find her a new home because they had 5 dogs and they kept chasing the poor thing. Ever since that, she's always been a dog hater. She would follow me from room to room. She would sleep with me on my desk. She would keep me company on top of the tub when I took a bath and didn't care how wet she got if I petted her. She would sleep with me after I went to bed. She had this cute habit of sitting on my chest and licking my nose after I got into bed. When the alarm went off, she would repeat that process.

It's been 10 years and I still miss her.

One of my two cats died of kidney failure the in April the morning after Easter. She was 14. I had her and her sister Star since I was five years old. I cried for days. Now I’m finally at the point where even though it’s still painful to think about her, I can now smile and laugh instead of cry. I’m so sorry you had to go through this as well, but I promise it will get better :x

Ironically, her diabetic/asthmatic/grand mal seizure prone sister with cataracts is still going strong after turning 15 this month!
