So my week has been filled with retail nightmares fueled by COVID restrictions. I work in a Liquor store and the last two weeks has started a few restrictions that were increased right before Christmas. (limited capacity, mandatory mask, change of entrance and exit which turned out to be a bigger deal than we thought) It has been a nightmare, with our store we are down to five people on the floor, that includes us if we leave our tills to help a customer. We are also a local (independent) store so our customer service has to be top notch par, which we take huge amounts of pride in. I have been working 8hr shifts non stop for the last six days with my first day off being tomorrow before I throw myself back into the "Christmas"mayhem of this COVID fueled gong show, we have also two back to back weeks of huge freight days ... So I'm tired and grouchy and starting to really feel the Grinch might have had a great idea at the start ..... that was until my Secret Gift Exchange person came along.

I wanted to do this before the reveal, as you have single handedly made my whole week. You have totally distracted me from the customer that got mad at me because I had to ask for them to wait before I could let them shop, and defused me when I got very frustrated over the couple that spent half an hour "browsing" only to leave the store without buying anything ... and the apologies that I had to make to some very understanding regulars as we waited for them to open a spot. In other words you gave me a reason to drag myself out of my work filled frustration and put a little bright spot in my day. (And holy cow what a bright spot)

It has been a rough year on some, and to you I say ... " you Got This ..." I am not the most social people, so the distancing really didn't effect me much, but I have seen those that it has, and I have taken the extra time to "visit" just enough to show people that someone out there still cares. I have seen the community come together in this trying time and "shore up " some of our members that desperately needed the contact.

So in all that I want to say ... Thank you
