Get to know each other! :)
-
Hi!
I don't know if this has been a topic before, but I thought we could have a place to get to know each other! :) Like where you are from, how old you are, if you have any horses/ponies, etc. I can start!
My name is Karoline, and I'm from Norway. I'm turning 18 this year so I'm in my second year at high school :) I have been addicted to horses ever since I was little, and started riding at the local center when i was 6. I bought my first horse when I was 15 but I sold her after a few months as she wasn't the right horse for my use. I then bought a mare named Migara and she is the most wonderful horse I have ever had. We went to shows and had an incredible time together, unfortunately she had an accident and fractured her knee. We had to put her down in january :(
I have a new horse now, a Norwegian Warmblood named Eranthis, and I'm going to the Norwegian championships in eventing with him this year. He is a wonderful boy, but I still miss my little angel <3<br />/>
Migara last summer/>
Eranthis
So, I'm really excited about getting to know you! :)HJ1#215952
I'm from Norway, so my english isn't flawless, but I try my very best! -
I'll join in; my name is Maddy. I'm 17 and in my second year. I have been riding since 5, mostly dressage and jumping. I have recently become a trick rider/ vaulter. I have I pony named Revillie but work at a training barn and ride about 15 other horses. I have been riding Revillie for about 4 years and have him trained to lay and do other tricks! I've been playing hunt and Jump for a few months and can't wait to see where I go! So hey!Player id is: 223523

Hi, Karoline. My name is Melody, though I'm usually called "Sandy" here in the game from my stable name. I live in Pennsylvania in the United States. I'm a retired life-long horse lover, though I've never owned one and class myself as a novice walk-trot rider. I get my real horse fix as a therapeutic riding instructor, where I help people of all ages and disabilities learn to ride or enjoy other horse-related activities. I especially am glad when I get a chance to drive Rosie, our haflinger pony, who is now over 20. She's been a therapeutic riding horse since she was 4 years old, but we no longer have people riding her.
I've been playing HaJ 1 since early in 2011 and HaJ 2 since October 2013. You might be interested to know that my breed name in HaJ2 is based on Norwegian for Sandy and Creek: Sandbuktian. *G* Here in HaJ1, my breed is taken from German: Bachsandigan.
Here's a poem I wrote about Rosie when she was much younger, and what she gave to one of our most severely disabled riders.
ROSIE'S GIFT
In a silent world of vague shadows and light,
confined to the sense of touch,
you reach writhing legs and good arm
(the other, shoulder displaced by birth,
hangs twisted and still).
Does something-anything-lie beyond my chair?
Trapped for a lifetime in infant mind,
so grievously wounded, what can you know?
You are lifted with care,
tenderly carried to Rosie and placed,
legs yawning, on broad back.
She, pasture bully, spoiled brat mare,
stands quiet, accepting your awkward weight,
five attendants pressed close,
never twitches ear, leg, or tail,
walks on, when you're settled, with gentle step.
Hips, shoulders move-
front, back, up down,
and barrel swings-
left, right, left, right.
You sway, then catch,
with some support,
her stride's strong beat.
Quite soon your restless arm and legs grow still.
They rest in the rocking of this moving world.
Your grin appears, a broad balloon
of helium happiness that lifts us, too.
You know the best of things-
both joy and love.

Beautiful poem, Sandy!
Sorry to hear about your mare, Emily, she's gorgeous.
My name is Carly, I'm 23 and have been playing this game since I was 13! I live in Wisconsin in the US and lease a morgan gelding named Gladiator, who was a hunter pleasure/equitation horse and I am now trying to make him into a dressage horse. I've been riding for over 10 years but have been riding dressage for almost 3 years, I'm breaking out into training level next weekend at our 4th ever show and hope my horse and I can pull it together to get some good scores. -
Hi ladies :)
My name is Katherine, Kat for short. I'll be 28 next Friday, am married to a wonderful husband, and we have 2 daughters, who are 5 and 2. We live in Southern Indiana, in the town where my husband was born and raised, but I am originally from Maryland.
We don't currently own any horses, but I have owned 8 different Appaloosas in my lifetime. I started riding when I was 4, and have ridden both English and Western.
I started playing HAJ in December of 2014, and played on server 2 for a bit, but couldn't keep up with the faster pace. I invited some friends to play along with me, and they've become addicted, too. I obviously have an issue with Appaloosas, since I try to put spots on everything I breed lol.
This summer my girls and I will be doing a good but of travelling to pass the time, and to visit family. Right now we're in West Virginia for the weekend, on our way to visit my side of the family in Maryland for a couple weeks. Later on in the summer we'll be headed to Nebraska for a week to visit my dad's side of the family (though he lives in MD), then after that we are headed to Colorado to meet up with my family for a fun vacation. My mom was raised by a pair of teachers, and she herself was an accountant, so summers have always been for adventures. I'm hoping to carry on the tradition.
Go boldly, where no App has gone before! -
Hi I'm Emma, I live in the UK. I'm one of the friends Kat invited to join. I've known her for about 7 years although we are yet to meet in real life. We met on another horse game. Who knows we may well meet sometime as my brother lives near Detroit and I plan to visit sometime.
I've loved horses all my life, used to ride my cousin's ponies and had proper lessons from the age of 7. I bought my first horse Ellie when I was 14 and spent all my free time with her. I now own a Dutch Warmblood called Farencio. I had given up riding for 3 years before I met him as I had a retired mare called Jemima Puddleduck and couldn't afford another horse to ride. I'd owned her for 21 years and decided that last summer would be her final one as she was starting to struggle. I decided to get another horse to help me through the process of losing her.
I love dressage and have just started competing again after a 7 year break. Farencio is very talented and we've been getting some good scores so I'm hoping we will achieve great things together.
I have a full time job working in marketing and PR which keeps me very busy during the week but I still make time to ride in the evenings and weekends are 100% spent doing horse stuff. -
Hi I'm Jennifer. I live in Florida, and am currently unemployed looking for a job since I graduated last year in August with my associate's degree. I am not married but I do have a 20 month old daughter with my boyfriend.
I had a red dun Welsh x Quarter gelding for some years when I lived with my grandmother in New Mexico. He was a trained ranch horse before I acquired him from his former owner. He had been a real cowboy but couldn't work anymore due to diabetes.
I class myself as a very green novice rider. i can handle walks just fine, but trotting wasn't something I could master yet. I was also bold enough to ride bare back several times. I rode Western.
I still miss Little Star (my gelding) but I made sure he went to a good home after I moved out of state and couldn't afford to take him with me. If he's still alive, he would be 27ish now.
I would dearly love to have a horse again, but I don't see that happening any time soon since I live in a metro area. It would be pretty expensive to keep one. -
Hi Karoline!
I am so interested in doing cross country/eventing!/ Currently training in dressage and hunter jumper with my 20 year old Swedish Warmblood gelding, Fly By Nightalso known as PM(By Fabriano) . I have been riding since I could walk, and did simple lead line classes as a baby when my mother showed western pleasure. At 5 we moved suddenly due to family issues and we took a 4 year break from horses. I started taking lessons with a Pony Club instructor when I was 9 and we did only hunter jumper basics. Last year I switched trainers and started working on more advanced things such a learning to collect and bend a horse. I did a few hunter jumper shows on my trainers paint horse until the farm owner gave me her ex- stallion show jumper and dressage horse. PM and I have been working together since November and he and I are so close now. We are currently training on the USDF Training level 3 in preparation for the fall shows. We are jumping 2'6" and are hoping to be doing 3'6" this fall/winter if he can handle it. He is doing splendidly for being a pasture ornament for the last 7 years. We are planning on using the remaining straws a semen from him to breed him to a mare out of DoubleO'Seven in the early spring of 2017.
I am 17 and homeschooled and I live in South Carolina, USA. I also show silkie chickens and other poultry, and I show dogs in agility and obedience.Post edited by dreamagility at 2016-07-05 19:25:25 -
My name is Caitlin, I'm 27, and I have been riding for 4 years. I live in Virginia, United States. I always wanted horses, but I couldn't get one until I was an adult. Luckily, I have the best husband in the world who supports me and my addiction. We own two horses, a 13 y/o Canadian warmblood and a 3 y/o American warmblood. I love how this game has taught me about the fundamentals of horse genetics, and this game is as addicting as the horses themselves... At least I think so. Anyway, glad to know I'm not the only eventer here! Here's a pic of a mare I am leasing from my boss, Ann-Louise. She's originally from Sweden.

Hi everyone!
I'm Bethany. I'm 22 and currently pursuing a Master of Architecture degree, so don't really have the time or money necessary for real life horses at this point, though I rode pretty seriously from eight grade until my senior year of high school. I'm from Cleveland originally but currently hanging out in Columbus for grad school.

Hello Everyone.
My name is Dottie and I live in Ky. Which is in the United States. I do have horses. I have a registered paint who was my herd sire till I gelded last October so that my boys who are 9 and 11 could show in 4H. I have also a Shetland pony that belongs to my youngest son and she and Sky had a stud colt in July. His name is Orion he is a Romero.
I have been in horses since 2002. I love them they are my therapy. Sky's daughter who I just sold was my main riding horse. I got points on her but she went to friends right down the road from me and my boys will get to show her still in 4H.Thanked by 1SandyCreekAcres -
Hi! My name is Holly from Upstate New York, USA. I am an Administrative Assistant for two churches in town. I have been married for 14.5 years to a wonderful guy, and although we do not have children, we raise and show Cardigan Welsh Corgis.
I too was a horse crazy youngster, and I was blessed to have had a "horse mom" who lived a couple miles away. I practically lived at their house and learned horsemanship every chance I could. It was just stock seat, trail riding, but I was in my glory. I never had professional lessons. The horses I rode were a plethora of ancient AQHA bloodlines (King, Leo, Wimpy within 5 generations). I really miss the old type QH. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/miss+wimpy+too
In my late teens, after a bad deal for a black flaxen chestnut AQHA mare fell through, and my Appaloosa filly was killed in a freak accident, I was able to get my QHxTB gelding who was my trail buddy and best friend for many, many years. We entered one "youth" show while I was still 20, and we won a class! I was so thrilled with that blue rosette as I never had a pro lesson! "Speckles" helped me through some very difficult times, and I had to place him in a retirement home when it was time for me to move on my own. There he lived in a lush pasture until he died. You can see us together here in 1989: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153480998350479&set=pb.750630478.-2207520000.1472908582.&type=3&theater
Since I am unable to have a horse now, this game helps me with that missing piece that was so important in my younger life.Post edited by Visions at 2016-09-03 06:19:44Thanked by 1SandyCreekAcres -
Hey there all!
I'm Natalie and I currently live near Denver Colorado. I have several horses with my family and do all kinds of riding though evening is my favorite. I have a teenage daughter who used to ride but is scared of horses now but my dad is an avid rider and my mom trail rides. Between the lot of us we have four horses, and will be getting a fifth by the end of the month. I am currently a truck driver, flatbed semis, but will be a limo driver soon. I have been training horses and teaching riding for 15-20 years and riding for 30. I love genetics and have been playing this game since February 2007.Thanked by 1SandyCreekAcres -
I'm Kerry, 28 and live near Boston, Massachusetts. Grew up with horses though currently without. I work in a microbiology lab. Love OTTBs.Thanked by 1SandyCreekAcres

Hi! I'm Laura. I'm 53 years old.
I live about an hour and a half away from Boston, in Massachusetts. I have never owned a real live horse (though I have always wanted to.) I have ridden a few times in my life, but I'm very inexperienced. Figured out the last time I rode, that the problem was I was always being given the "big slow horse", because I wasn't a good rider. Turns out I need "a small slow horse", something I can get my short legs around, lol.
Anyway, I've got over 200 Breyers, (for my horse fix, besides the HJ1 and HJ2 games). I'm sort of a Jack of all Trades when it comes to art, as I paint, draw, create jewelry, love doing sculpture, but rarely get to do it, and all kinds of odds and ends, like sewing costumes and other clothing.
I work in the floral department of a Whole Foods grocery store. I've been with the company since Nov. 1994. It helps pay the bills.Post edited by KerredansCorral at 2016-09-13 16:45:41Was Rebecca Iavelli on the old forum

Old Topic but I thought I'd see if it's still active :)
Hello, I just joined today. I'm a 25 year old, living in Ontario, Canada. I've been officially riding since I was 10 (sitting on the family pony doesn't count :D ). I'm a hunter/jumper mainly but due to my job, I've been debating on trying cutting. It will never replace jumping but it might be fun to try something completely different. I work on a thoroughbred breeding farm, foaling out future race horses and raising them until they are sold as yearlings. We also foal out standardbreds, quarter horses and Percherons for clients. My boss owns cutting horses and has volunteered to teach me and let me show them.
I own 2 horses currently. Have owned 5 in my life so far and loved every minute I had with them.
My current riding horse is a gorgeous black Standardbred mare, sired by Camluck. Trying to get her bred but so far, no luck. We jump during our free time.
My other special girl is a 3 year old chestnut arabian filly. My future jumper. Half sibling to my very first horse, so she holds an extra special place in my heart.
I also own one Miniature Pinscher, one Doberman Pinscher, one "mutt" (beagle x border collie), 2 orange barn cats, and one Irish Dexter Bull.
Can place up pictures if anyone is interested :) -
Well hello FadingLands and welcome to the game. That is very interesting that you work on a Thoroughbred farm I wish I did. Love to watch them on TV. I got to meet Cigar a few years ago when I took my kids to the Lexington Park.
My youngest once a Thoroughbred. You are living the dream that I always wanted to do. I am thankful for what I have and my horses. My youngest son wants to learn how to jump. -

Hello all,
I'm Michelle and go by DoubleMash. (HJ1 and HJ2, and HJ2 I have another account as DoubleMash2)
I'm 49 and from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I am the mother of two grown children, divorced but now in a much better relationship (almost 9 years of sheer bliss, compared to the chaos that was doomed from the start of the last marriage).
I have two horses and work as an Administrative Assistant for our provincial harness racing association. (Standardbreds) I own an 18 yr old Standardbred mare who trained to race. She never made a career on the track and has been an all round pleasure horse for me for 12 years now. My second horse, a 13 year old QH mare was a temporary acquisition to work on retraining her as she sat in a field for 6 years without any real work . Her owners didn't have strong horse skills and the mare got away with everything. Over the past year, she has been reminded what manners are and has become a wonderful riding horse with great potential. I recently decided to put her up for sale, as I cannot afford to keep two horses either time wise or financially as retirement is on my horizon.
My husband and I like to travel, and I attended Hurdal Verk Folkehøgskole in Norway when I was 19, and still try to speak Norwegian whenever possible. I have a goal to try to learn 5 languages over the next 5-8 years. So two down, and three are works in progress (Portuguese , French and Spanish)
