Would you boost a Bootstrap Stud?
-
I'm not sure how much money people usually spend on their bootstrap lines, I tend to spend a lot on stud fees. Just wondering if this was one of yours would you boost him as he's got such a high PT?
I don't actually own my own stud and am spending 100-300k hb's in fees each month to produce foals. He's AGA to a low *papered stud so I figure 1-2% will get him to paper up at least.

I never use money on my bootstraps (real or hbs), as they are meant to produce money makers only, and you dont get a bigger lifetime payout just because they produce higher PTs. But I do not chase the leader boards either, I breed them to make show ponies, and then stuff them in a show barn and never look at them again.ID 195859

I'd also like to add, if he's out of a Star/Gold pairing and he papered lower I would be wary of the quality of his offspring. Obviously, he'll be producing showhorses, but it's something I'd take into consideration.

Ooh, I didn't even open his page, I just assumed he was a high star that you wanted to boost to make him superior to a high producing sire. Definately would not boost an A stud for a bootstrap line. If he already was a (very) high star, I could understand a desire to boost an colt to get a superior son out of a stagnant line.ID 195859

@DarkFrost - do you want this guy for a BS stud?
He produced well for me, but I kept an AGA son. He is uneven but high PT producing...on a leaderboard too.
