Sabino 3 is now White Spotting 8
  • First: Why the name change? When sabino 2 and sabino 3 where added to the game the naming convention for new white mutations had not yet been established. It was assumed they would be continuing with the sabino sequence. They did not. All new white mutations at now part of the white spotting (w) sequence. There is no sabino but sabino-1 and our game is being changed to reflect that.

W8 is a real gene. It was found as a novel mutation in a single Icelandic horse. He may have been the only horse in real life who will have have it.

W8 in the game is bold, graphic and dotty just like sabino 3 before it, but it is now generating in a more realistic looking fashion while keeping the same spirit as the original generation.

It comes in a range from low amounts of white to very high white when paired with w20.

  • SO this means it is now lethal with all the other white genes?
  • No, not even vaguely. W does not mean lethal.

  • I have always liked the look of Sabino 3, but now, as I am working my way down the list of my horses that have and refreshing their images for the new look, I must admit that I really, really love the updated images of this renamed gene. Wow! You have done a super job.

I'm also very impressed that the gene test automatically reflects the revised genetic name even before I go to look at the horse's page and that refreshing the image automatically changes the color name.

Thank you for making this change so easy for us to adapt to.

  • Awesome thanks! I went to go reroll some horses and searched for it in my herd, I saw 11 and went I only have 11 horses with W8, then I relooked, it was 11 pages... back away slowly... lol.

  • lol, yeah, I only refreshed my intact ones. I started with everything, then after a whole search page and just one or two intacts, I reconsidered :P

  • LOL I was really confused for a bit, I was looking at some of my horses and they have W8!! So I came here to see what was going on! sb3 has been one of my favourite white patterns since it was introduced to the game, I do like the old bold pattern but the ones I have re-rolled so far look good too

  • Will we have any horses that have the fun clouded looking spots with this new version? Is there any way you would entertain the idea of bringing back the old pattern as perhaps a fantasy gene of some sort?
