Genetic / Breeding Questions
-
I'm sorry for the multiple questions, I am new and want to get a run down. If there is a handbook or something I can read with info like this, please direct me to it.
What are the order of paper levels? I have seen A, B, C, Blue, Red and I believe Star or Gold. (May be mistaken).
What does Consistency effect? Is it something to breed for?
Is there a point of the game overall or is it to learn about genetics and breed for what you want?
Is it good to keep some Show winning horses for points? Or do they not effect something?
How do I really advance in the game?
I am thinking about buying a subscription but I want to see what I'm working towards first.A true racehorse is not trained, one is born. -
1. Stallion/Mare
C/Yellow (Perfect foundations have 100% Breeding Ability and they will paper this way)
B/Red (Expros will paper this way at 105% Breeding ability)
A/Blue ( 5% boosted expros can paper this way at 110% breeding ability)
Star/Gold ( Lined stock can paper this way)
2. It affects how they show. I do not breed for perfect con, many do. It is general considered a good thing to do.
3.You get to decide what the point of the game is. It is that huge :D
4. Keep show horses! That is how you make HBS in the game! Staring out getting some mares from the foundation rescue (player #13) will jump start your show string but YOU NEED MORE SHOWPONIES! :D
5.Show Ponies!
6. That is fine :D You can get a 3 month basic for very cheap if you want to try it out :DPost edited by Redbud at 2016-09-09 17:05:58Thanked by 1White Wolf Spirit -
A few more, I am grateful for the answers!
What makes a good show horse? Is some of it based on luck?
I have many horses as I got lucky - but if they failed advice I just sold them. Trying to give them all a chance at two shows to see if they can give me profit. Almost all passed SA test.A true racehorse is not trained, one is born. -
as you are starting out the foundation rescue is a great place to get show horses. Also there is a heard helper called "Exceptional Show Horse" and "great Show Horse"

Showing used to be pretty complicated. Now the overwhelming majority of stable income is based on show points, not show earnings. To give you an idea, today I made a 'profit' of 1815 hbs from shows, which may sound like a lot to you but my entry fees were 122,680 hbs. The show bonus I got from the points my horses have accumulated was 678,072 hbs.
If you haven't already, you should read this post: http://www.huntandjump.com/forum/discussion/12396/hj-showing-points-vs-profits ... it explains how this works in a lot more detail. :D -
Thank you everyone! I will be going through my horses differently know, I'm not sure what I'm really do yet..maybe I'll just try and get nice color combos with some good income flow coming in.
I'll also look into some different forums to see if I can find new things, thanks again!A true racehorse is not trained, one is born. -
You asked what makes a good show horse, yes it is largely luck. The higher the PT and their training will get them into higher profit/point shows as they age, but even the lower PT horses can make you good points, especially if you are lucky enough for them to level off in a good place. Basically just keep as many horses/ponies as you can, and show them all!! Every point earned at shows counts!!Post edited by Kintara at 2016-09-09 23:47:11

Here's an example of what Kintara was saying.
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3528368
This mare has a PT score (the test result that predicts how good a horse will be at training for showing) of 4.1, a very low score, though not the lowest I have seen. She is 9 years old and showing at the level of 1 World, meaning that she is showing in In-Hand classes only, the lowest level of shows in the game, although in the highest Grade of the level. In short, she is NOT what you'd call a stellar show horse. She has been showing at 1 World since February this year.
I decided she is worth keeping this morning because she is placing near the top of her class regularly and has accumulated 278 points, which means that she adds 139 hbs to my showing bonus each week. Not a huge amount for a 9 year old horse, but still a nice addition to the total.
Of course, after about 5 1/2 years of playing the game, I now have several thousand pixel ponies, and a daily showing bonus of 163,262 hb's. (That's an average estimate. The amount reported in my transaction record isn't always that high.) Still, she will continue to add to my total accumulation of points every time she shows, and so will stay in my barn for at least another 8 game years (16 months).
There are two kinds of points that horses have. The first is what I think of as "score points." These are the points that are added to a horse's numerical score when they are shown and that increase with training each week, based on the horse's PT until they level off, when the increase becomes only tiny fractions of a point each week.
The second kind of points are those that are awarded to all except the horse that comes in last in a class. These vary depending on the number of horses in the class and the Level/Grade of the class. (You can check out the progression of levels and grades by looking at the chart found when you click on "My Show Entries". The more horses entered in a class, the more points are handed out to the competitors. These are the points that are counted for the Showing Bonus.Post edited by SandyCreekAcres at 2016-09-10 04:51:12 -
Here is an example of what a Foundation rescue mare can do. She adds about 700 hbs to my pay out every week :D

Everything owned by them will have 100% Breeding ability, 100% showing ability, and be consistent. To pick them out you only have to decide what color you like :) -
I have a question... A new year starts in a new month right?
-
In HaJ 1, a new year starts every 2nd month. January, March, May, July, September, November.
