Is my foal a nexus?

Her dam is a nexus, but I can't tell from her image alone whether she is one, too (sometimes I think I see starts, sometimes I don't). Is it always obvious when a horse is a nexus? Thanks in advance!User ID: 225765 -
She does not have nexus. Nexus horses will only be eligible for the fantasy breeders club. ☺Specializing high quality dark horses with lots of chrome.

Royal Gala - that was one of my Nexus mares you bred yours to. I'm sorry you didn't get Nexus. Would you want a few Nexus straws free of charge to try again?Post edited by Menka at 2016-09-13 16:34:41

How do you tell if it's a nexus? Stupid question, I know, is it just the coloring?
-
Heterozygous Nexus horses have a portion of star field on their coats:

Homozygous Nexus horses are blue where pigmented hairs grow and black where white hairs would grow. This particular one also has the star field effect.

Here's a homozygous Nexus Leopard Appaloosa. Notice that most of the body hair is black (i.e. white without Nexus) with tiny blue spots scattered around and pale blue legs which would have retained the normally black legs of a Bay.

Nope. Nexus has two different looks.
Homozygous Nexus (two genes)
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3346249
(there are different looks, depending on the gene of the horse, but if you look on the horses page, where it states Color, it shows this: ERROR: UNKNOWN ANOMALY
That is because Nexus is a Fantasy gene.
Most of the horses will probably be Hetero for Nexus and they will have "stars" throughout their body color, so you know that they have only 1 gene. But if color tested, will show what color they are.

Great minds run in the same channel.
Trust me to get long-winded when explaining factors of this game. :D -
Thank you for the info!
-
Do you mind if I ask another question? How much would one expect to pay for a homozygous nexus egg? Roughly, that is if people ever sell them?
-
That would depend on the individual person who might sell one. Usually they post them up for a auction, and then you have to beat anyone else who wants one, in the auction to win, and it can get very expensive. Was Rebecca Iavelli on the old forum
