I think I'm confused about what it takes for a horse to qualify for Kit promoter. I thought it was when a horse had two different alleles of Kit? But then I have this foal that apparently isn't a Kit promoter:

Is it because her white factor is none?

And then I looked through horses in the Kit promoter breeders club, and I saw some homozygous Sabino 1 horses, which definitely threw off my theory. But it also makes me question why my foal's dam isn't Kit promoter either since she is homozygous Sabino 1:

KP is a separate gene, but it is not testable. They have to have two kit genes to show KP, but they also have to have the KP itself.

The only way to know a horse has it is to either add it to a foundation in the gene modification lab or when it appears on their coat.

They can have KP and one or no kit genes, it just won't show.

KP is a separate gene, not something that shows up on its own. It is a limited edition gene that costs 5 GMTs per allele. It is non-testable though so you can't see by the gene test if a horse has it. In order for a horse to show it and be eligible for the breeders club has to be homzygous for KP and have 2 kit mutations.
