New 'Best of Generation' stallion in my barn
-
When I am comparison testing my colts, instead of testing against their sire, I test them again a stallion I had previously found to be best of their generation, that way I am measuring all of my new guys at the same standards. (Normal Create Lines) For the first time ever, the stars aligned and gave me a colt that was superior to him! Have to say I was gobsmacked.
Now I am wondering if I should geld all his brothers that were AGA the previous best 2nd or keep them intact. I tested two against My new best, and he came out superior each time.

That's awesome! How many mares would you have available for him when he comes of age?Go boldly, where no App has gone before!

Thank you! I am pretty excited. Right now I will only have 14 mares, unless I supplement with outside stock. This line was just added on, because I liked black, thanks to this guy it as boosted a few levels in my eyes.

Will they all come of age at the same time, or after this colt? If so, I wouldn't feel bad snipping the rest of the colts, using them would more than likely just result in producing lower quality stock than just waiting. Unless you feel you need some more show ponies ;)Go boldly, where no App has gone before!

That is a good point, I hadn't thought of that. The 14 will be ready his first year, and I will have an extra 16 his second. I guess don't have enough mares to support his siblings. I have ten colts that tested as good as the previous best. I am sure won't use them over the one I know is the best of the best. Geld it is!
