Slow Weekends?
-
I haven't been playing the game very long, but this is my second time going into a weekend on it and I'm noticing that fewer people seem to be active on the weekends. Fewer people posting sales, fewer people buying horses, and fewer questions in the buddy chats. Is this something that happens often? Most of the online games I play get busier on weekends, so this felt a bit off to me.
-
I am here 7 days a week ; but dont post often in the forums anymore
-
I'm here 7 days, but I work weekends so I'm a little more absent then.
-
I don't post much on the forums myself. My partner works Sat and Sun so I'm home alone with little Sith.
-
I work every other weekend. I log on nearly every day, but not always posting to forums.
-
Well it's good to know people are here! I am currently disabled so I basically live on the internet unless I'm at therapy or I messed up and did too much the day before and can't even sit up. So it can get a little sad when people aren't around.
-
In the summer the weekend DAYS are pretty slow. Things liven up a bit in the evenings.

@ConfluenceStable that does make sense. Busy weekend days during summertime. I supposed it's technically "summer" now, but our schools don't get out for another week.
@boredaf I would love to, but one of my post-COVID symptoms is brain fog and it is wicked hard to concentrate, come up with words, and have any sort of sustained conversation. The other day I couldn't come up with the word Cyclops and went with "Oculus guy" instead. I used to be smart, haha. -

Thanks! It does suck, but it's (very) slowly getting better. We're on month 7, but I'm walking with a walker instead of in a wheelchair and I have a lot more good days than I used to.
-
I am disabled as well ; I have degenerative disc disease and bulging discs which pinch my sciatica and make it impossible to sit for more than 10 minutes at a time ; most of the day i can only lay
flat >< -
@annismyrph Oh man I am so sorry! That sounds incredibly painful! I am just getting used to having so many limitations and I am not a fan.Thanked by 1annismyrph

I don't know How you feel about joe rogan but I found this discussion about a disable veteran getting back into shape very inspirational maybe you will too just go to youtube and search "joe rogan ddp cry" clip should be 7-8 minutes.
I do not endorse any of these fitness tips as I'm not familiar enough with the guy's regimen just thought it was a cool story.Licensed for:

@boredaf I'm sure it's awesome, though not a big Rogan fan. I have to be careful though because if I overdo things one day, it puts me out of commission for an entire week. We're hoping it's something that with careful physical therapy and rest will improve with time, but it's such a big unknown since post-COVID syndrome is so new. I do, however, have a friend who is a West Nile long-hauler (she got West Nile Virus in 9th grade and was so, so sick for like a year and had a lot of issues with long-term problems) who has managed to do well now. She still has some symptoms, but she's able to work as a medical researcher and raise a kid so I'm hopeful.

Yeah, she's a rockstar and my inspiration right now.

I work every weekend and every holiday also with COVID my schedule has been hairy and off kilter for months, as some who know me can say. I try hard to check in at least once a day. I'm also an introvert that works a very public job and I find myself peopled right out, so I tend to lurk quietly.
-
@Corvus That's totally understandable. When I was still able to teach, I would get very out-peopled and need to retreat on weekends.

High school science. AP and dual credit Biology, AP Physics 1, and on-level physics. I also coached UIL Science and Science Bowl (two academic competitive teams).

Ah cool nice solid sciences, Personally I love history it just gets so subjective at times *sigh*Licensed for:

@boredaf Yeah, I am a pretty firm science nerd. My boyfriend is a history nerd. He's got his master's in history.
-
That's cool, my SO is really into physics and chem. I can converse passably (I think) about both esp if there's a medical bent but As I said I lean more historical With military/political history and mythology being my main bents.Post edited by boredaf at 2021-05-24 18:23:59Licensed for:

That's hilarious. We somehow have mirror image relationships. It's nice to have a mix though. I've dated people with the same interests as mine and it can get weirdly competitive.

See now I used to be a Certified Special Needs Educational Assistant that worked across all grades ... loved my job, worked at it for 15 years specialized in sensory ... kids great ... admin and parents .... mostly admin ... not so much. Now I work retail. Unfortunately its in a Liquor Store, so I have not been affected by shut downs ... if anything it got busier. So now I lurk ... good thing my chat room has people who understand my lurking, as well as two friends that know what I'm like and really as long as I check in to say I'm still alive, we are good.
-
Honestly, admin and parents can make or break a teaching career. Before I got ill and had to go on disability leave, this was the most exhausting year I've ever had in my life. We did hybrid model, so I was teaching face-to-face and virtual at the same time, and parents wanted you to deliver everything to everyone, perfectly. And admin is exhausted by the demands from parents and central office and the government, so everyone was just horribly miserable. Then I got sick and it got worse, but I'm too sick to care, haha.
-
Lol, I lurk sometimes when I don't feel like posting much but I generally like talking or chatting and helping others when/where I can. Usually on nearly every day to at least check things, I haven't been doing well recently so I'm on & off right now though.
I am sorry to hear that your so sick, I hope you are feeling a little better and will recover soon! I am technically "Disabled" because of my Autism and an immune condition which has been really hard to deal with during Covid by itself but my condition can make me sick anyway which doesn't help at all (like now). I had to do physich therapy for awhile and it Does get better, bit by bit so hang in there! Another check box on also being a Science nerd lol, I love Biology and Animal Sciences! My bother happens to be a big Military History buff too!
Hey @boredaf, what kind of Mythology do you read? It has been an interest of mine since I was a kid!Celestial Angels, The Balinor Breed! We Specialize In Riding Horses & Ponies!

Have studied just about everything at one point or another I like to incorporate a wide array into my urban fantasy universe, esp. if I can add my own flavor. I'm familiar with all the usual stuff norse, greco-roman and Egyptian and know bits and pieces of Japanese (anime freak), celtic, aztec, and gilgamesh (that's either mesopotamian or Sumerian I don't recall which).
But I tend to mostly just research the folklore, when I actually read novels it's a mix of pretty much any modern fantasy with a little sci-fi thrown in (discworld, the WH40K novels and gardens of the moon by Steven Erickson are some of my favs)
