    I wanted to try doing a contest to help out some of our newer members. I've seen a few people commenting about the search page and all the options being difficult and I've seen a few wondering what in the world they're going to get color-wise from a specific breeding. That being said, any account that is newer than a year can compete in this contest. This contest is geared toward learning the genetics of a possible foal, that all-mighty popular thing most of us just adore for the diversity it gives us! =))

    Alright on to the rules:

    Again no accounts older than a year, please. (I will be looking) Also, please no secondaries!
    I'm looking for the genotype(specific genetic string)
    and the phenotype(color name)
    The entry with the most combos and correct phenotypes will win first prize, however every entry will receive a prize
    Contest will run until June 15th
    HAVE FUN!(after all it is only a game :-bd )

    Prizes:

    First prize 1 million hbs or the two foundations I specifically made for this giveaway

    Second prize 750k hbs or which ever prize the first winner didn't pick

    Third prize 500k hbs

    All other entries 100k hbs

    Now for the prize foundations and genetic examples of this contest!

    Oooh, this is fun! I'll go ahead and enter, though it doesn't 100% fit into what I'm breeding for, but I'll try to get a few in there anyway. Do you want us to post the links to the horses we end up breeding in here?

    @steelmagghia, you don't have to breed them. Just list the possible genetics/coat colors these horses could pass on to their foals.

    @bluchrystals Oooooh. Somehow I didn't get that at all! Well now I kind of feel like participating in this would be cheating. I teach AP and dual credit biology teacher in my real life, haha.

    Whoops on PMs! Sorry about that! Here’s my message copied & pasted... although I might have misunderstood the contest. Are we supposed to just list out the phenotype and genotype combos possible or find existing horses on the search page that match the possible options? I did the list option but can do the other if that’s what you meant... sorry!


    Thanks so much for the super awesome and generous contests! You (and the rest of the community) are so awesome!

    I had a lot of fun with the first contest and learning all the combinations possible. Since all of my phenotype and genotype combos are in an Excel sheet due to size, I wanted to send to you via PM... I hope that's ok? I tried to be methodical and get every possible combo, and that ended up 248,832 combos for black horses, 497,664 for bay, 248,832 for brown, and 497,664 for chestnut... LOL! So each one is on a different tab. :)

    Heh amen you keep getting more likable. Of course it cuts the other way too you've got to use what you've got, I remember once doing body work on a car with nothing but a crowbar and a mini sledge, we used a chunk of firewood to curve the hood.

    Anyway back to the contest, am I actually doing this right? I don't see anyone else doing it like this. I think I missed something?

    You're doing it right. Not all have gotten the phenotypes typed in, but managed some of the genetics. I figured it would happen, which is why I offered the 100k for every entry. :D

    @miamoo thanks :D I have too much time on my hands. Anyway it's a scattershot approach I knew I was going to fail at phenotype (at least if I had to go from memory) so I figured if I threw as many genotypes as I could even if I only get 5% right I'd still do okay. Though honestly I think 5% is optimistic bordering on delusional. ;)

    @boredaf I think at least some of the phenotypes are correct! But then what do I know, I'm still really knew on here :D I used the search probably a little too much.....but now I know what all the phenotypes are by heart...I think... ;)

    @MiaMoo It has been such a wonderful experience. Everyone has been so supportive, especially @boredaf, and all of my interactions have been really positive. And the game is set up so that if I just can't do anything that day, I don't feel anxious. It's very laid back and perfect for what I needed.
