Happy Pride month! Let's celebrate with free straws from "See Your True Colors"
-
In honor of Pride month and in celebration of the beauty and uniqueness in all of us, I would love to give out a free straw to my new boy, If you have an account that can't use straws, there are lots of other options! I can send a good show horse home with you, find a nice brood mare or even a high quality stallion. To claim your free straw/etc, just post your ID and a something about you that makes you proud! This doesn't have to be about LGBTQ+ issues, it can be ANYTHING you are proud about - I want to know what makes you uniquely you!
Make sure you post your ID and whether you would like a straw, show horse, mare or stallion
I named this guy after the Cindy Lauper song "True Colors". I had the privilege of seeing her in concert many years ago, and it was an intense experience for me. When she started talking about this song and her sister coming out to her, I totally lost my cool and bawled like a toddler. Literally. I cried the entire way through the song. It still affects me like that every time I hear it because I remember her speech and how it mirrored the struggles I was facing. The world got so much bigger for me after that and I will be forever thankful. Because of her, I am proud to be who I am, to love who I love and to live my best life. It has taught me that you can truly change someone's world with one kind word, so if we all could pay that forward, think of all the good we could do for other who are struggling!

I guess for me it would be that I have a wide variety of knowledge and skills I don't fit neatly into a given box, little bit redneck, bit goth, a cup of pretentious author, a dash of meathead jock, some history nerd ect.
I don't generally publicize these things because I find them irrelevant but if anyone needs someone to talk to about asexual issues I know how hard it can be to find someone who gets it. I'm no counselor or anything but I can try to help or just listen.Post edited by boredaf at 2021-06-01 15:53:54Licensed for:

No need for straws, though he's a very nice stud and I like his intent a lot!
I'm proud of the new job I started recently, and the life I've got right now; I'm living with a bunch of friends, 3/5 of us are asexual, and it's great to live with some folks who just "get" it. :)I mostly play on mobile so I can't usually see signatures!

Your story is wonderful! I would love a straw from your boy that commemorated that experience. ID is 271215. Thank you!
I'm proud of where I am in my career, but more importantly and relevant to this month, I'm incredibly proud of my brilliant friend who is a lesbian and rocking it in a very traditional, technical, conservative, male-dominated industry. She's a true inspiration and I admire her bravery and what a role model she is to everyone around her. And she and her wife just recently had the most adorable baby!Post edited by BluebonnetRanch at 2021-06-01 18:39:26Thanked by 1High Five Acres -
I'm proud of who I've come to be as a person. I struggled for many, many years with a mental disability and without it, I wouldn't be as strong as I am, as kind, or more importantly resilient as I am. I wouldn't be me.
I'm also proud that I've overcome a very isolated and angry time in my life and because of it I made 'partner of the quarter' at work! My first time earning it in almost 4 years of working there :D
I'd love a straw from the boy you linked, he's wonderful! 265684Thanked by 1High Five Acres -

231045 - I'm proud I finally found an art that is fun, makes me able to focus, and it's something I can sell or use. It also involves rocks, so I'm getting better at identifying minerals too! If I was in the post apocalyptic world, I'd have so many life skills.
I'd like a straw for True Colors please. Great horse btw.Post edited by Rosielizard at 2021-06-02 08:28:37Thanked by 1High Five Acres -
Aw man HF, your barn is one of the ones where picking a straw from just one stud is near impossible for me! Love your horses. I'm gonna go with Factor Fiction this time, if that's alright! Get some DFP in my drafts. My ID is 238452
Pride month is extra special for me this year, as I'm currently in the process of coming out as trans/nonbinary. So I'd have to say I'm especially proud of myself at the moment for getting to a point in my life where I can transition! I've been on hormones for about three months now!
I like this idea. I was just thinking yesterday (as I was putting a trans flag color cloth tail braid from the new tack pack on all my tack format ponies) that we really need a pride tack pack!Spiderweb Stables

@Taliesin - So glad you are finding your true self and making your dreams come true!
@steelmagghia - 150lbs? Incredible! IF you don't mind me asking, do you have any tips for those of us looking to drop some of the covid pounds acquired over the last year?

Although I am heterosexual , I am glad to be able to give an ear to my freinds who are " out " or for that matter " in" ; they all know I am a safe port in the sometimes crazy world we currently live in. Some might call me a mean girl becuase of my honesty, and occasional bluntness ; but it is never being said out of spite or hatefulness ; I come from a HUGE Italian / Irish / Lithuianian New Jersey family and becuase of it maybe I am too blunt for a lot of people. However , becuase of it I have also saved a life. i learned almost the hard way , sometimes it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission. You never really know a person until you have walked in their shoes, even when the shoes dont fit. Please remember to smile and say good morning , you never know who is having a really bad day , and just that simple free act of kindness can change it all for someone. No need for Straws, although he is Stunning :) I just wanted to say thank you !

@annismyrph - Hey, we come from the same neck of the woods! My family is from the Philly/NJ area.
Smiles are the most important part of my day. I think if you want to make a difference, a smile is the first step! I had a woman stop me at the local TSC several months ago when I had my dogs with me. When I smiled (I'm a big smiler, so even with the mask, you KNOW I'm smiling) and said hello, it was a huge deal for her. She cried when my Great Dane snuggled up to her and told me this was the thing she needed because she had been feeling so terrible for so long. I bet we talked for over an hour. One simple thing made such a difference in her day and I was so glad my pup recognized her need and looked after her. I wouldn't expect that to have been a life altering event for her, but it did make her day and for that I am grateful!Specializing high quality dark horses with lots of chrome.

@HighFiveAcres Danes are Awesome! I used to manage a great dane kennel in NY, til the owner died of Cancer. I went to college in Doylestown ( LOL ). and Yes even with my double mask on ; the smile will show !
I was told by my Dr to not get the vaccine becuase I had a bad reaction to a flu shot a while back and ended up in the hospital for a week

I had a difficult childhood. My parents were always putting me down over my appearance, interests and intelligence. Despite doing well at school I was always told I was stupid. When it came time to leave school my father declared 'She needn't think she's going to University. She's a girl so she can do the secretarial course and be a secretary, because that's what girls do.' This was at the start of the 1970s. So I became a secretary. Fast forward a few decades to being married with kids and having nothing to do with my parents at all, and I decided to find out whether I really was clever or not. I started studying with the Open University (a very good distance learning academic institution in the UK). It was part time learning while working and bringing up my family, but after 6 years of study I gained an Upper 2nd Class Honours Degree in Childhood and Youth Studies. I was 55 years old and had proved to myself that I wasn't stupid after all, in fact I'm quite clever really (academically that is). :)
Everyone is different and none of us is perfect, but wouldn't it be a very dull world if we were all the same? I love your horse and the story that goes with it, but could I please have a straw from this horse which has the Fantasy genes that I like?

Thank you. :) -
Finally had a moment to check this post - sorry for the delay!
@WhiteValley - I never understood how some parents can be so, well, awful. Their ONE job is to be the best person they can to raise a good, decent human being. That is awesome that you persevered and very inspiring. I bet your children will be inspired and motivated by your efforts, as well! I just started back to school this month (20 years after I got my first degree) for Teacher Education, so for this to have been your journey and what makes you proud is really exciting!Specializing high quality dark horses with lots of chrome.
