This filly papered blue and PT’d at 11, but only tested AGA her dam. How if she papered better?

I believe that would mean her dam is a very high red, just slightly below being blue, and the filly is a low blue just slightly above being red. AGA means “about as good as” not “exactly good as”, so they can have a little variance and still test AGA.

Because to be superior she has to be a certain amount of points higher than her dam (3 I think?). If she is 2 points higher (or lower) than the dam she will test AGA.

Totally made up numbers here.

Say Red is a breeding quality range of 19.001 to 21.999 while Blue is 22.001 to 25.999 and the comparison range for "about as good as" is +/- 3.555 points. To get a "superior to" rating, the horses have to be at least 3.556 points apart.

Your mare is 21.234 while your filly is 22.567
Yes, it's enough to get her over the limit into Blue,
But it's not more than 3.555 points above her dam, so tests only "about as good as".

There! The proportions are a little wonky and purely for illustrative purposes, but it still shows that your filly falls slightly higher than her dam (thus getting a Blue papering) but not high enough to test Superior.

Technically she is superior in breeding ability because she did paper higher. Papers are based on a specific number. She has a better breeding ability but it just isn't much better. She is close but just a little bit better.

If she has genes that you really want, keep her until you breed one better. But if she were mine, I spay. I'm picky.

I would spay her if she was my filly. I only keep superiors.
