I'm new, so I wasn't aware of your situation. I just want to let you know that thoughts, prayers and good vibes are coming your way. I hope the situation improves soon.

It's been a long time since my worst workplace problems, but I'll share my story. Maybe it will give you a chuckle. After all these years, I can look back and just shake my head.

My college major was Latin and I wanted to teach it, but when I graduated college in the mid 60's, Latin had fallen out of favor as not much applicable to the "modern" world. I ended up in a classroom with slower learning 3rd graders. One thing that was never mentioned in any of my classes at college was tips on classroom management. Needless to say, as a rather shy young adult, those kids turned out to be a classroom from hell and ran right over me. I was asked to resign at midterm. Sigh.

I did find other employment and eventually married a college friend. Strangely enough, when our daughter was in 9th grade (if I'm remembering correctly), I began teaching an after school Latin class in high school because there was some interest in Latin rising up again. I ended up teaching Latin by distance learning by closed circuit TV, with a fair number of students in the local high school and other students in schools usually at least a couple of hours away. I had a ball, and I think my students enjoyed it as well.

Anyway, my 4 or 5 months in a 3rd grade classroom make me feel great sympathy for you as you struggle with a persistently unpleasant co-worker.

Ive got a workplace sort of humor story for ya.

Ive never been a vindictive person, but I worked for a company that did payroll and benefits for other companies. One of our clients payroll was never correct for the first paycheck of the month. No one could figure it out, for years. So all they did was patch this here, patch that there, make sure you run this program, yada yada yada

Since I was the program consultant (I told the programmers how to fix things) I sat down and figured it out. It took me a few weeks but I had it ironed out.

Well, I told my supervisor that morning, that I had the solution, and I would have it sent over before end of day.

They asked if I had the specs later that day, and I said yea, the email was about to go out. Then before I hit enter, I had a call from HR saying I was being let go!

i said. Ok, then you arent getting my research. I deleted every bit of research, notes and programming specs I had done before I handed in my computer to the company.

There... you figure it out. lol I hear that they lost the contract later due to their ineptedness of retaining a proper payroll system.

Shoud have never fired me.. lol

probably bad of me, but to this day I never felt sorry

I joined HaJ a few months ago, so I don’t totally know your workplace situation. From what you described, it definitely sounds like a difficult environment to be successful in.
