@crazysnakelady Yep I breed for chimera and it takes a little doing

Chimera x chimera = 1% chance of a chimeric foal and that’s the highest it will get.

Well i just did all my breeding for the season and I guess the colt curse has been spread to me. Got some gorgeous foals though :D

(and my foundation mare died and her foal died too because of "deadly white mutations". Not to upset though because she was not that fancy)

Frame is a very deadly gene to cross too. I had just assumed it was a white gene combo gone bad. White genes and the frame gene can both be fatal in their own ways.

The quick rule of thumb is: If only one horse carries the frame gene, then the foal will survive. If both horses carry it, then breeding them together will always result in a dead foal.

Only horses that are heterozygous, and have one copy of frame (-/O) will live. Any horse that is homozgous frame and carries two copies (O/O) will not live. That’s why only one parent can only carry the frame gene in order to have a living foal.

Here is one exception though: If you look at the ‘Freaky Friday’ herd helpers, they have two copies of frame (O/O) which makes them homozygous for frame and technically they should have never survived. That’s why it’s called “Freaky” Friday. But again, if you breed them to another horse that carries frame, they will have a dead foal.
