You don’t need mushroom to buy a gene for someone else with RL$ :)
You go to the buy rare genes link, put in her id, and add satin and voila! Then I pay you! :D Not saying you need to do it of course just explaining! -
Did you ever get the genes you wanted?ID: 273497

If not, I can put sa on her right now.
Can I ask a question? How do you get that striking white mane and tail - is that mushroom at work? I've seen it IRL but couldn't figure it out here.ID: 273497

@ClassicCreations yes you are correct, those white manes are caused by being homozygous mushroom!
If I remember correctly it is a gene that is common in shetland ponies. Wait ill check on this.
So I found the original topic where Ammit introduced the mushroom gene to us: https://www.huntandjump.com/forum/discussion/30295/brand-new-for-june-mushroom-gene-till-june-15th-closed#Item_50
I was correct, it is a real gene found in the shetland breed.
Copied from the topic: "Mushroom is a real homozygous recessive gene, found in the Shetland breed. The exact location is not known but they know roughly where it is located and there is now a test for the gene. The Mushroom gene appears to acts only on red pigment and desaturates the color leaving a sepia hue to the coat. Manes and tails range from slightly diluted to near pure white. For a long time there was speculation if the gene was even real. The color is not quite cream, not quite dun, not quite silver."
There are many examples in that topic if you'd like to see what mushroom looks like. However, some horses might have gone completely white as they have appy and are very old or even deceased now.
I also see that some of the original example horses got changed, so it might not be the best example thread but at least you can find some mushrooms in the comments and otherwise you could always use the search to find some more mushroom examples.Post edited by MasterStablesMS at 2021-10-14 13:26:52HJ1 160524

Wow! Thanks for the info! Yes, I've seen it in miniature horses. Contrary to what many old timers will tell you, there is a lot of Shetland blood in the foundation miniatures. Although now, they are bringing in lots of Shetland blood as the demand for elegant, refined miniatures has increased. I had a gorgeous "silver dapple" mare - she had the striking white mane and tail. I just didn't realize it was the mushroom gene until now.
Did you ever get that satin gene you were looking for? Just wanted to make sure before the new roving gene sale begins.ID: 273497
