Question about stables
-
I see a lot of people have a customized stable logo with pictures of their HAJINC horses, I've been a member since 2014 and I still can't figure out how to do that!! Any help would be appreciated
-
If you are talking about the stable image that appears above all of my horses, like the one seen here:
http://www.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=4485519
you have to create, or have another player create, the picture, using uncopyrighted material or pictures you own yourself. Then it has to be uploaded to an image sharing site like Imgur. Once you have its URL there, you insert it into the place provided under Stable Management/Edit My Default Image.
If you are using images from the game, you have to give credit to Hunt and Jump. If you are using stock image photographs that you have permission to use, you need to include this information on your image in some way.
I have made images for several other players, often using my own photographs, which I give permission to use for the purpose. I have also made a few using favorite game horses owned by the player I'm making it for. You can check out my work at my PBase site. They will be found by looking through this gallery.

I always allow the person I'm making such an image for to make suggestions for changes (you'll see several trials for some of these), and work until my "client" is satisfied. I've made several for Secret Santa gifts. My fees for other work are always fairly low. I do it for the love of creating such images and to help fellow players, not to increase my game bank account. *G*Thanked by 1tayyllooorr -
I love the images you made!! but how did you create it? thats what i can't figure out :(

I use Photoshop, and have used it for quite a few years now for a number of different image modification projects. It provides a lot of ways to work with photographs to change and adapt them in numerous ways.
I believe there is a free program called Gimp that will let you take photographs and work with them in similar ways as Photoshop does. If you use a PC, you should be able to download and try it out. Don't worry about trying to do everything right away. It takes time to master these complex and powerful programs.
The last stable image I did, I took a photograph I'd taken at a local 4H club show, cropped it fairly close to the action, removed some unwanted people. Then I copied it to a new layer, set the new layer to the blending mode Screen to lighten it a bit so the rider's head didn't get lost in the bank. I applied a filter that gave the horse and rider a very slight painted look. Finally, I added the text, giving it some special effects to help it stand out nicely. The last step is to flatten all the layers so that it can be saved as a jpeg image.Thanked by 1tayyllooorr -
okay thank you! and lastly, do you know how i can get them uploaded? I have one made from fotor but it won't upload.

SandyCreek answered that in the second paragraph of her first response here.Thanked by 1SandyCreekAcres

First question--how large is your image? It should be about 500 pixels by 333 pixels. Certainly not much larger.
One of mine was 515 pixels by 350. (The first number is the width)
Next--when you have finished working on your photo at Fotor, do you download it to your computer? I expect this is the case. Fotor only provides image editing, I believe. You cannot upload an image to HaJ from there or from your computer.
You will need to create an account at an image hosting site that allows direct linking to individual images. Ammit recommends Imgur. That is a free site, I think. I pay an annual fee for my PBase account.
Once you have an account there, upload the image from your computer to your account. Then find out how you go about linking to an image. There should be something somewhere that will tell you how to do this. Once you have that URL, come to HaJ and find the Edit my Default Image page under Stable Management. Enter the Imgur address for you stable image and click the button. That should do the trick.Thanked by 1tayyllooorr -
I know she answered it but I wanted it in more detail because I couldn't figure it out...
-
And okay, I'm trying but I can't seem to figure it out yet. I'll keep trying different sites though, thank you.

I have the image address and i think it works on here but it doesn't work on the image page :( the size is exactly how you said it too. -

Where do you have it hosted? (I've been away from home and computer all day.)
-
Flickr might work. I did find instructions for direct linking to images posted on that site. Basically, you right click on the image, click "Copy image location or however such an option is phrased on your browser. Then post that location URL in the Edit My Default Image page.
-
If you give me a link to the page your image is on, I can visit the site and maybe find out about direct linking there.
-
I am also willing to download it and make sure that its size doesn't use a lot of bandwidth. Since it will appear on every horse page, it has to be something that the hosting site will not become overburdened by its bandwidth usage.
The image not only has to be small in terms of its width and height, it has to be small in terms of how many kilobytes or megabytes it uses up. In Photoshop, I am using a heritage utility called "Save for Web" that allows me to reduce the kilobytes in a picture for use on the web without greatly harming its quality.Post edited by SandyCreekAcres at 2017-01-03 13:54:42 -
Here is one I have http://s1099.photobucket.com/user/prettygrl345/media/6e98caae-4830-454a-aabf-88fdd021a07c.png.html?state=copy&sp=false

and that one. is there anyway you can make me one like that, however much you charge? -
Enter this URL in the Edit My Default Image page and see if it works. It should, since it's hosted where my stable image is. All I did was copy your image from Photobucket and save it for the web at high quality. If it does work, you have my permission to leave it there. I have listed your game name as artist. If you'd like me to change that, PM me with the name you'd like used and I will adjust the image info.

Aww it worked!! Thank you so much, it means a lot. Are you sure I don't owe you anything? :x
-
You're very welcome. I'm glad we finally found a solution. I didn't do enough work to be paid. :D Just help out someone else in the game sometime.
