  • Well, GMTs are a great way to spend extra hbs! There are some very important things to know before you dive into the world of modifications, though.

    1. Foundation horses can be modified in any way, but lined horses (with visible parents in their pedigree) can only be modified with the genes their parents carry. This means if you have a second-generation horse that is Ee aa and his parents are EE aa (sire) and Ee aa (dam), the only modification available would be to change the e inherited from the dam to an E.

    2. Licensed genes are typically not available for modification beyond foundation horses. This means you cannot add an LE gene your foal may have missed.

    3. If you aren't putting expensive genes (10+ gmts) on your horse, your best bet is to try to find a horse on the public sales list (or through an in search of ad) that already has those genes. There are a surprising amount of really nice regular creates out there that may fit what you are looking for! It is also much cheaper to find one of those horses and just modify height or weight to fit your breeding goals versus spending gmts for lots of other alterations.

    4. Be ABSOLUTELY sure you are clicking the right modification. Just like with carpentry, measure twice, cut once! Never hit the back button on your browser because you might be charged twice. GMT mods cannot be undone (unless Ammit steps in and fixes and oopsie). Double-check everything before submitting your change!

Everything in the GMT lab has a price listed after it, which is the cost to change one of the two available spots (sire side or dam side). Sometimes (like last month) Ammit puts up licensed genes for sale in the lab. If you have GMTs laying around and are just looking for something to spend them on, I would wait a bit. Most of the LE genes Ammit puts up are around 25 GMTs or more (some as low as 10, some up to 50), so saving up is a great way to gain a license without having to spend real money. These events do not happen often, so it will give you time to save up for a spending spree!

    Hopefully that helps!

  • Just to add to High Five Acres excellent list. GMTs do not have a cut off time to use them, so don't worry about having to use them quickly. If you have no use for them right now, they'll still be there next month, next year, whenever. :)

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure.

  • I have one thing to add. The gene prices listed are for modifying foundation horses. For lined horses, all genes only cost 1 GMT.
