Where are you playing from?
  • I just moved from Cleveland Ohio to Portland Oregon 2 months ago. I left the land of lake effect snow and have moved to the Pacific Northwest where rumor has it, it rains all the time. It has been brisk and chilly but nothing terrible yet. The last few days have been dry and today it got up in the upper 50's.
  • @Romany - I was up at Fort Drum, NY last year and dealt with the lake effect stuff for 3 & 1/2 years off Lake Ontario. Definitely don't miss that! Now when it gets below 70 in Alabama I find myself really chilly!

  • I'm another Aussie, from country Victoria!

Not quite as dry here as NSW, but we look like we are coming into a hot dry summer, just had the hottest temps recorded for October since a long time!

  • @Sharayah - New York gets even more snow than Ohio! I don't envy you that stationing. I don't think I could handle the heat of The South. I have relatives in Florida and I about died the last time I visited in the summer. Too humid. It's like have the air made out of a wet blanket.
  • @Tuwamare So funny that I never really come across others from Oregon, and to learn that there are several of us here. Definitely a nice change.

@Romany Well, from a native Oregonian, welcome to our state. I hope you're enjoying it thus far. I live in Silverton, its a small town so you probably haven't heard of it, but its near Salem. Have you had a chance to get out and see any of the gorgeous places around the valley yet?
  • I'm from a little town called Berea, KY
  • Checking in from Jasper, Indiana. Between going back to school (finally) for my ASN, kids, husband, ailing in-laws who live right next door, 6 chickens, 5 cats, and a dog... I never even know what day it is, let alone what the weather is doing lol.
Go boldly, where no App has gone before!
  • I come from a small town in North Texas. Actually recently moved out on my own within the time I started playing here. I used to be about an hour out of Dallas/Fort Worth area, now I’m about spitting distance from Oklahoma because I go to a community college in Gainesville, Tx. Although it has dipped below freezing several times, we have yet to actually experience true winter. It’s mostly just been windy and cloudy and yuck.
  • I’m in Dalby, Queensland, Australia.
The drought and bushfires in Aus at the moment is truly the worst disasters we have seen in some time.
I grow up on a cattle property (I was the 7th generation on the place) and seen it slowly get dryer and dryer till we had to sell all livestock and move. So many farmers and stockman are doing it so hard at the moment.

  • So cool! I love this thread!
  • Yeah I've been hearing terrible things out of NSW Australia lately. Hope you guys are safe!

@RomanyEstates no idea how you cope with all that cold! I'll take my southern Mississippi wet blanket air over snow any day! I can go out in a T-shirt, shorts, & flip flops about 9 months out of the year here (and I really resent having to put on layers!). It's one of those places where everyone panics when it snows and no one can drive in it :))

But you only need hay for a couple months! The rest of the time you just have to make sure the ponies aren't getting too fat on all that beautiful lush grass :P
  • We need some more California representation on here ;-) I’m from San Diego, but moved to San Luis Obispo a couple years ago. But I still consider myself a San Diegan. BUT, I don’t think I can go back to all that traffic after being here for so long. I had never been able to drive on the freeways between 2-6pm EVER. Its amazing. Cars just move forward! Who knew!?
@katiedid I’ve been to Needles! My brother lived in Havasu for a while and we drove up there to look at a boat once.
    Westworld's ID# 253654
  • Another Aussie here I am from Western Australia near the ocean in the Rockingham area though i would prefer to be more country.
  • This post is so interesting!!
I live in Franklin, Indiana. It’s about 36 degrees right now and I am not enjoying it
  • Central Alabama here! About an hour from the exact center of the state (I did a semester at Montevallo University, there's a star marking the center of the state there! Walked over it every morning coming out of my dorm room)

Today it's very overcast, it's our wet season here (boo) and in the next few weeks tornado season starts, and a few weeks after that hurricane season starts. At least there's no snow season, our winter this year has been abnormally warm, only a few days this year has it gone down below freezing.
I was born in Grand Rapids Michigan but moved when I was younger to AL, Michigan is still my home state, I love winter. I LOVE snow, but sadly Alabama isn't the place to get snow, at the mention of the word flurry everybody panics :))

  • I am currently playing in south central Wisconsin (as they say on the weather). Today is February 2nd, we are covered in snow and cold.
  • Hello fellow Sconnie! The sun finally came out for like the first time this year, yay!
  • I know I'm late to this but new here and just saw this while perusing the forum so thought I would respond.
I'm in northeast Washington. Warmer than usual for this time of year but I'm not complaining. I hate to be cold. LOL
  • I’m also from Oregon! Well originally from California. Moved to Oregon 2 1/2 years ago.
  • I'm another player from Calgary, Alberta! It's a great city, but one of the funny things about it is that it's great because of how many amazing places there are close by so it's easy to leave the city. I love the mountains so I can go skiing in the winter (not this year, too risky). I love driving down to Nanton to check out the antique stores. There are also some awesome thrift stories hidden in some towns near the city that I like to check out. We have the Calgary Stampede every year, which is a huge rodeo. I love it!
  • I am in northern Colorado! I was born here have been a few other places in the US but never outside of it.
  • I'm from the eastern part of Norway :) Its weirdly warm so far this winter (+7C today!), but that is a fitting end to this year, I suppose.

  • Chateaugay, NY
Not the city but the country :) my neighbors live in canada so we are right tight to the boarders.
  • I am in SC! I used to live in NC earlier this year! @Tzano I have a friend who lives in Boulder Colorado!

  • I love seeing where everyone was from! It's so interesting and cool to see other people in the same area as me. I'm in San Antonio now but my fiance is military and were due to move again in the summer! (Hopefully somewhere fun lol) I'm native to the Montana rocky mountains though, that's where my heart lies.
  • Im in whyalla south Australia
We live on clay pans and the only thing that grows here is salt bush
  • Central Kansas here, transplant from Colorado, and a transplant there from Montana. Military family, and we moved a lot. Moved to Kansas when my hubs got out of active duty to be closer to our daughter. I do miss my mountains, when you grow up with them always being around you or directly to your west its odd not to have any, not even foot hills :))

  • @Tom8osauce no I'm not. I don't like it at all, I went once at 14, worst birthday I ever had. lol

  • I'm in Orlando, Florida. Early Autumn here is still essentially summer weather, with 85+ degrees Fahrenheit. It doesn't really start to get lower than that regularly until December-ish. But even then, it is not uncommon to have 85 degree Christmas Day weather. Our cool weather kicks in around Jan/Feb/March and will regularly be 50/60 degrees.

  • I just found this thread, funnily enough.
I just moved home, to Montana, from Oregon. (I moved home to care for my elderly parents, most especially my mum who has dementia and cannot be left alone)
So it is interesting to see how many are here that live in Oregon @Emilyh18,
@jessj, @Tuwamare,@RomanyEstates,@DuffC. Especially since I lived just a few mere miles from Emily18, literally on the road that leads to the tiny sleepy town of Silverton.

I now live in Bozeman, MT, which has grown and changed oh so much over the past several years.
Glad to see there is at least one other person here in MT. (@Silverstar) and that @HelenofTroy once lived here. :)

I am owned by a beautiful endangered Canadian and am awaiting (impatiently) for Thursday to find out if she settled and we will be expecting a little one next year.
    Thanked by 2HelenofTroy Tuwamare
  • @Ceridwyn I was born in Helena Montana. Have family living in Bozeman as well. I love how small of a world it actually is.

  • @Ceridwyn... sorry we didn't meet while you were here. I'm just a ways down I-5 in Springfield. I love Montana. My mom was born in a tiny town called Saco, one of those blink and you miss it towns. Good luck on your mare. We have 2 Oregon mustang fillies. :)

  • I’m just about to move from Jupiter, Florida to College Station Texas for work.

I was born in upstate NY, though, and I desperately miss the seasons and trees.
  • I'm currently visiting TN.
  • I currently live in Tampa Florida but I grew up in Nebraska and would visit my grandma in New Mexico for the summers. I miss the seasons.
  • At the moment, Sofia Bulgaria. :D

  • Updating this: I moved to Phoenix, Arizona from Florida in July! Yeah I know, I'm crazy to move to the desert in the middle of summer. =))

So far, I am absolutely loving it. I've always loved mountains so whew these views, breathtaking! I'm a bit of a nomad due to the nature of my job/personality but I think I may have found home.

  • I live in a very small hamlet on one of the Finger Lakes south of Rochester, NY. Things are pretty quiet here. The trees are muted this year but you can definitely tell it's fall. We've had some beautiful days in the 70s and some dreary rainy days in the 50s. The nights have gotten quite chilly.

  • @Alianne I know what you mean! My husband and I just moved to Southern Utah from Central Iowa in July, and man, was it hot when we got here! Right now the weather is beautiful, but the week after we moved we had highs in the 110s, which is a big change from the 80s in Iowa.
