My paint mare has the Sooty plus like appearance but she's a dark bay tovero with something slightly lightening the belly that shows the spots along the dark bay. I don't think it's panagre as her nose is dark.

I also have another mare that is claimed to be a sorrel. She's a coppery red.

Then there's my gelding who was thought to be a chestnut but his coat was diluted and he has a dorsal stripe down his back and on his legs he has deep red stripes. The next year the breeder paired his parents again and his filly sibling genetically tested as a red dun. Both parents appeared to be dark bay but one must hold a dun gene .
