Stallion Testing
-
So I have a really nice colt right now, and I put him through stallion testing and he was gelded. I know that gelding is for the best, but he was the last foal out of a stallion I really liked, and I wanted to know whether Stallion testing is considered an ability test, and if so, is it just a waste of money to buy GMT's so that I can have him unaltered?
-
Yes it is an ability test. It would be a waste of money and GMTs because he will still get gelded by GAT.
-
Thank you! I was afraid that might be the case and didn't want to waste money on it that I could be setting aside for barns.

Look at it this way. The colt may have been pretty, but at best he was a worse breeder than his sire. Stallion testing gelds colts that are worse than their sires. So, he wouldn't have been a good stallion.
