My heart horse lost her beautiful cremello filly shortly after birth this weekend. She is a lesson horse at a riding barn and had a full staff looking after her but she was a maiden mare and it was a cold night. She did the best she could but alas, pregnancy is not as smooth in the real world as it is on here. Mama is doing well, but I'm heart broken. This filly, which i named in my heart Pixie Dust, was going to be my first halter breaking project and eventually I planned on buying her. So many dreams and 1 year of whispering to her.

So in memory of her, I'm giving away straws from any of my stallions. I haven't been on here too long so it's possible they're not of interest to y'all. I have a lot of MM and some of Tawny's xx studs. Let me know what you'd like and I'll send them your way.

I’m sorry :(
My maiden ended up aborting at almost 8 months. It’s heartbreaking, he/she (I didn’t want to know at the time) had to be euthanized. I too had big plans for us, and is now buried on the family farm.

Its heart breaking to plan and wish and love and dream of the future.
My maiden mare lost her only foal also. Many many years ago. I used to repeat that evening in my head often. In the end I gave it to the powers that be. Once again my condolences.

Baby time is the best time and the most heartbreaking time. Losing babies hits in a different way and it's really hard. I don't breed horses but we have lambs and calves, and once had a litter of kittens where every baby but one was stillborn. (That one is a spoiled pet of ours now!)

Thank you so much. It helps to hear your stories as much as I do not wish this experience on anyone. It will be a long week but I do still have the mare and if she's healthy enough we have more time to try again.

Would you like some straws as well? What do you look for in a stud? I have some booster foundations from 2 years ago, but they don’t tend to pass testing when breeding with a red mare (lol I’ve tried)
I also have some 2nd and 3rd generation.

It sucks, it really does. I never got the chance with my mare again.

Oh thank you! I breed for kit M, homozygous D, and height. With app lines appreciated too.

Most of my girls are red or blue.

I just wish i could help her feel better but that takes time. And maybe she will get a massage in the next few weeks

We don't have any foals that need a mother, though she would totally be willing. She's very OK with being milked. Haha my dairy queen. We're just going to let her dry up so she doesn't use up her energy stores. I just know she loves massage and i have a friend who does it for a living.

lol "dairy queen", that's cute. Maybe post on facebook if you haven't already. So many orphaned foals that get swept under the rug :(

My mare wasn’t producing milk at her stage, but I should have thought of a contingency plan had the baby been to term and passed or she did. Help out the PMU babies or something. :( it’s been so long and it still hurts.

I'm so very sorry for your loss and your heart will heal. Give that momma lots of love because I'm betting she's heartbroken too. BTW, I loved the name Pixie Dust (I'm a Disney Girl).

I’m so sry for for your loss! I lost the very first foal I ever bred and his momma too. It shattered my heart but I’ve had 10 foals all healthy since then so that helped heal me over the yrs. I’m just starting the game and so far I love it.

Thank you, yes I'm sure she is but hopefully she will be a good auntie to the other foals we will be welcoming later this spring
