Questions about cloning
-
If we clone a GMTd foundation horse, can we then add additional genes to them and can their gender be changed? Also, are they foals once cloned or will they start older?Post edited by Mensie at 2022-02-07 06:51:21Bluegrass 272432 | Forest 54250 | Mesa 9056

Yes and yes. Once they are cloned they are just another foundation horse, only drawback is that they can't be used in the RGS.If we clone a GMTd foundation horse, can we then add additional genes to them and can their gender be changed?
Yes, all clones start as foals. Also, are they foals once cloned or will they start older?Bluegrass #143376 * Specializing in Iced Axiom (ExPro Cobs) and Iced Phantoms (PF Riding Ponies)

Just a correction, cloned foundation horses CAN be used in RGS! I have done it many many times :)Post edited by HayesStable at 2022-02-07 08:43:47Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

What's RGS? I feel like I should know this, but my mind is blanking.

Ah, OK. Thank you!

@HayesStable are you sure about the clone being able for the RGS? I remember trying to get some RGS genes on a clone 1-2 years back and it didn't show up in the list.
Okay so I went to the RGS page and it says this on top:
"You may modify the genetics of any horse you own that is a foundation, not a clone, unbred, and gene tested."
Huh weird the horse I cloned this season turns up in the list. I guess it must have changed and that I missed the memo, I'm sorry for any confusion that I caused! And happy to see clones can be RGS'd :DPost edited by MasterStablesMS at 2022-02-07 10:31:44HJ1 160524

I hate to be the stick in the mud (I'd love to add more RGS to my clones!) but has anyone put this through the bug tracker? Either as the use of the clone being the bug, or the use of the word clone in the "you may modify" sentence being the typo?Bluegrass #143376 * Specializing in Iced Axiom (ExPro Cobs) and Iced Phantoms (PF Riding Ponies)

I am pretty sure I remember Ammit specifically changing it so they could be modified recently and maybe the RGS page writing was just never updated. But I can guarantee that I have been modding clones in the RGSBluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

Yes, it was changed so you can add genes to them. You know pay for those genes when cloning so it is now allowed.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )
