dumb question change a gene
-
if I change one gene, turning said horse from say, Z/- to Z/Z will his physical appearance change?
-
Depends on the gene. Lp/- to Lp/Lp it changes. Z/- to Z/Z it will not. Z has some random variation. You can get it to change looks some with a reroll. If you post a specific horse and what you are looking for we can give more exact advice. :)Need to contact me? Read this first.

Fiddling Parlance
here he is. I was thinking of making him homozygous for silver, and breeding him to mares to start my "line"Post edited by Fiddler at 2022-03-16 07:45:00 -
ZZ won't change his color but both silver and ND1 have a lot of random variation. You can try a reroll. Note this is not the same as an image refresh.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Might be an obvious point, but it may be worth thinking about how much variation you'd like in your line too.
If you keep him Z/-, there is a chance that some of his foals won't have Silver, especially if the mares you're breeding him to don't have silver. Having a lot of variation can be really fun, but some people also aim to have consistency in the colour they are getting, so in that case having him be Z/Z would ensure that all of his foals have at least Z/- or -/Z.Post edited by CrowsnestRidge at 2022-03-16 08:49:46ID #265959 | He/him | Breeding Black Satin, Liver, and Grullo Arcturus Horses | Licenses: Mushroom, DFP2, Onyx, Axiom Blue and GreenThanked by 1Fiddler -
CrowsnestRidge, My mares are varied enough, I think.. but you make a very good point. I'll try a re-roll just for fun!
