Changing gender of Superior foals
-
If a colt passes SBA and Comparison Tests superior, will they still test superior if I GMT them into a filly? Hoping they will but I don't want to waste the GMTs if not.
Thanks for any help!Bluegrass 272432 | Forest 54250 | Mesa 9056 -
There is no guarantee if swapped to a filly she will test SUP to dam ; usually however if they pass SBA as a colt gender swapping will not change thatThanked by 1Mensie

Are they evenly bred, paper-wise? Then probably yes. I do it quite often.
However, I'm usually very picky on my colts and really compare test them a lot to make sure they're the best of the best. My mares only have to test superior to dam, and sometimes I don't even bother with that if they're a superior paper level. (I used to do better... but nowadays? Eh. Don't have the time lol.) Because of both those things, a superior to benchmark colt of mine is practically guaranteed to be a really good mare for her generation.
If it's higher gen, or unevenly bred, then the odds of being sup to dam are not so great. If you don't have plenty of hbs / GMTs, it may not be worth it.Bluegrass #143376 * Specializing in Iced Axiom (ExPro Cobs) and Iced Phantoms (PF Riding Ponies)
