WANTED: Lined Horses & Older Show Horses
-
Looking for lined horses, both regally and unregally bred! I am interested in well-breds for breeding and the mismatched ones for show breeding. I have a few babies and am looking for breeding age or becoming of age horses & will take any breed and any color :)
I am also in the market for 11.8+ PT show horses older than 2/3YO, though I prefer older leveled horses that show well & can continue to earn points (or just have 800+ points and don't show). I've raided the sales and auctions already and taken what fits my program xD
Thank you humans <3 -
I'm sure I have some that fit your goals. My ID is 211323 - feel free to take a stroll through my barns and make an offer on any you like. I'm more likely to notice a PM than a post here, so I'd recommend contacting me that way.
Keep in mind that a horse with 800 points will earn at least 3400 hb per year in showing bonus, so most people (myself included) won't sell them for cheap.

I will take a look thank you :)
So for an 800-1000pt horse that doesn't show, would 4k be reasonable?
And for a 600+ and showable horse, would 8k be reasonable?
Just to get an idea before I look, thanks -
Your understanding of showing is flawed. Whether a horse is showing currently or not is irrelevant if they hold points. An 800 point horse, simply sitting on your account, will make you the 3400hb a year that HiLo quoted above. By showing that horse, you could potentially increase it's earning potential. High PT horses also aren't the only horses who give the potential to earn you thousands. I have foundation horses with over 3000 points.
Besides the Available to Adopt program, which you have already taken nearly 20 free-to-you, high pointed show horses from, I doubt you'll find many more people willing to part with their show horses for "cheap". It's their bread and butter after all.Post edited by Kat8805 at 2017-05-28 13:42:44Go boldly, where no App has gone before! -
Hence forth why I'm asking what prices are reasonable to offer for both point gathering and sitting duck show horses. If not leveled ones, then young high PT horses that can be trained and shown. It's not that my idea of showing is flawed, it's that I prefer show horsesPost edited by bravo25 at 2017-05-28 19:33:12

A good rule of thumb to know what they're worth in someone's barn is to figure out how much they're worth annually (points x 0.07 x 61) and multiply that by 18 minus their age.
So a 10 year old horse with 800 points will earn 3400 points annually for at least 8 years, or at least 27,200 points over the rest of its lifetime.
For a straight sale NOT through the adoption program, I will never consider selling a horse for less than half that (for this example horse, 13,600 hb), and that's only if they've leveled in a bad place and won't earn more points. If they will keep earning points, that price will be higher.

Hm, okay so sitting duck point horses are far to expensive for far too slow of a return (though that's my opinion). Do you have, then, any young show horses or blue mares still in training you'd consider 5/6k for ?
-
I'm sure I do, though I have no idea what you're interested in right now. I want to understand what you're looking for and if you suggest a few I can either sell those or suggest similar ones I can part with.
Search through my barns (211323) and send me a PM about any you're interested in, with what you'd pay for them.

No, your idea of this entire game is flawed. This isn't a fast paced, get rich quick kind of game. It takes time, patience, perseverance, and a long term plan. The auction runs 3 times a week, keep scouring for horses that have some points, and are still earning them. Sort by points this year, bid on a few. Sort by all time points, bid on a few more. Every auction. You'll find it will begin to pay off, but don't expect miracles over night.
You'll also sometimes find those rare gems - higher PT foals, or whatever your particular unicorn is at the time. I used to look at every single horse in every auction. Every horse. We're talking thousands. And I'd find gems. Because pasture foals end up in there, and sometimes people just don't have the time to look themselves, and dump a whole season's foals. But to reap these rewards, you'll have to put in the leg work.Post edited by Kat8805 at 2017-05-29 12:08:56Go boldly, where no App has gone before! -
Okay, Hilo, taking your advice (and I hope I get this right), a mare like this one would sell for around 20/30k, yes?

And if that is close, is that an offer you would take for this mare?Post edited by bravo25 at 2017-05-29 15:47:17 -
For a spayed mare of this quality, you'd be exactly right. I would say approximately 25k based solely on points. But I'm math minded and that value is easy to figure out because there are no other factors to take into account.
However, besides having 1350 points, this mare is intact, blue papered, and carries S+, which isn't a cheap gene. I don't often buy or sell breeding stock so don't know current market value of a blue S+ third gen mare.

Okay, thank you. I will keep an eye out to see if there are any I can make an offer on. I did post my donations in chat as well, please message me with questions or concerns.
