Deleting straws
-
Is there a way to delete straws you have? Some of the ones I have are from horses now that I know better, I wouldn't breed. A few less straws to sort through when looking for something would be nice.
-
I think you just sell them back to the game? If you would like to remove a straw/egg from your list and permanently delete it, sell to use ID #7 for any amount. The straw/egg will be deleted from your accountPost edited by annismyrph at 2022-04-10 15:08:03

Thanks! right now it's a nightmare trying to find straws.
Do higher point, higer daily payout carry through to the foals at all> if not, then should it matter if i use straws from not so hot studs? -
Is there a way to rename straws? I named mine by the stud's name, now I see it would have been better if I had named it according to his stats.
-
Points do not pass down to offspring. They have to be built up through a show record.
To rename Straws, go to the "sell straw/egg" tab in your adv. breeding lab, select the straw you want to rename, and fill out the "label" slot. When finished, select the "Offer Straw/Egg" button. Your straw will now be updated with a new label! :)Post edited by MackZ at 2022-04-10 17:35:41 -
I guess I didn't explain well, I meant the horse's ability to show well. That would raise points faster, if that passed down maybe?Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2022-04-10 17:46:24

Oh, OK. My understanding on that is a bit fuzzy. According to Ammit, PT is in no way affected by parents, but bootstrapping creates better breeders and showers faster than regular line breeding, so it seems like parents do affect the pt/showing ability of offspring to some extent. So, I'm not completely clear on how all the numbers work. However, higher PT horses do seem to produce, on average, higher PT foals, and higher PT = better showing ability = higher point accrual. :-??
-
The better breeding level, the better the show foals she can produce. A red papered mare will produce good foals but a Gold papered mare will produce better foals. And by better I mean a better PT score, and showing abiltiy that will help the foal reach higher levels.
I do have to argue that a better PT score does not necessarily mean more Points. A better PT score helps a horse train up the levels faster, and reach a higher show level before hitting their plateau.
Some horse that train fast don't always earn much points as they train up. A key point is to hit a good spot where they plateau. They can sit for years at a good level and earn tons of points. I have pointed out before my 2nd gen 10.4 to 10.8 PTs hit the 7W level and earn great, whereas some of their siblings or next gens that are at that 11 PT level end up in 8L and don't earn much points.Post edited by Humboldt at 2022-04-10 18:42:12 -
What do you mean by the breeding level of the mare, please?
And i'm going to be reading this over a couple times til it sinks in. I really appreciate your advice, all of you -
Horses have a hidden breeding quality that we can't see.
An example of this is Perfect Foundations herd helper - this produces a horse with 100% breeding ability. These horses paper C/ Yellow. The Exceptionally perfect herd helper produces a horse with 105% breeding ability. These horses paper B/Red. Paper levels give you an idea of breeding ability.
Now, as I breed lined horses, I only keep Superior tested offpsring to for breeding. So my 2nd generations are all A papered studs or Blue Papered or Red Papered Superior mares. I assume their breeding ability is like 106 to 110% (we can't see this number but paper levels and comparison test tell me that I am improving this ability).
And so each generation I improve breeding abilty. And that also means each generation produces better show foals. By fourth generation I start getting Star/Golds. These are giving me PT scores in high 11s and low 12s, the foals train to higher levels and can earn more points.
This is why I don't need to bootstrap or breed unevenly. I currently have foundations up through 7th generation horses breeding - I breed a wide variety of PT scores every year so my show herd is varied and produces poiints well and in a variety of levels. Bootstrapping gets you higher PT foals immediately to show in those high levels.

Having varied pt levels makes sense. Udntil now, when i looked at a show, 3/4 of the horses in a particular show are all my own, competing against each other. Having their score spread out over several different levels should give me better return, then. Thank you
